My families is, on Christmas eve me, my mum, stepdad, brother, granddad, my mums best friend and her sons (who are two of my friends too) all go out for an Indian meal. Afterwards, when we all go home. My mum, stepdad and my brother have some Champagne or other fancy alchoholic beverage before bed. We then all read Twas the Night Before Christmas (been reading this book together on Christmas eve for like 25 years now) together and turn in.
Christmas day it's open presents time. Then (depending on whose turn it is to cook), go to my Aunties house for Christmas dinner or my auntie and cousins to to ours along with my grandamas and granddads. Then go round to my dads house to see him and open his presents, go to his families house for the Christmas party and spend the night with my dad. Then boxing day, back to my mums in the evening for a Christmas party with her side of the family.
All in all, it's a good couple of days.

My family always meets up at my grandmother's place on Christmas Eve. My mom and aunts make a lot of candy/junk food. So basically we just snack, drink coffee, and exchange gifts on Christmas Eve. After that, I go back to my parent's place and open gifts (Yes, we're weirdos who open gifts on Christmas Eve).
Christmas Day isn't really a big deal for our family. A big reason I hate opening gifts on Christmas Eve is how useless/boring Christmas Day becomes. We go back to my grandmother's house for lunch, then back to my parent's place for Christmas dinner. After the meal, it's pretty much over.
Christmas Eve is the main event for me/my family. Christmas Day has always felt like a mediocre Thanksgiving.

Christmas Eve: Immediate family comes togther at about 6 in the evening. We eat dinner with ham, Brunswick stew, and holiday spaghetti. We also play card/board games. Sometimes we open a few gifts, particularly if the gift is pajamas or a game to play that night.
Christmas Day: The immediate family gets together again for a big breakfast. Then presents. We're usually done between noon to 2:00 PM.

Christmas Eve: Me and my family usually go have Christmas dinner at my paternal grandma's house. We hang out with other relatives as well.
Christmas Day: Me and my immediate family (That includes my brother-in-law and my nephew) hang out and open gifts. Later on, we go spend it with my dad's side and then my mom's side of the family. In the evening, me and my folks go to Chevy's for dinner.

I watch Clueless every Christmas Eve. My brother rented it for me on Christmas Eve and I've watched almost every Christmas Eve since.
Pizza My mom use to cook a big traditional Christmas dinner for the extended family. Everyone that went to my house for dinner didn't eat because they have to go somewhere else to eat the same type of food. This pissed off my mom, so she decided to fix pizza for us and desert for everybody else. Now we eat fancy local pizza as part of our non traditional Christmas feast.

Christmas Eve we usually go to my Grandparents house for a lasagna dinner... if for some reason my grandparents aren't home (As they occasionally do go to my cousin's house in Georgia for Christmas) I'm usually tasked with making the lasagna... no idea why Lasagna became the go to Christmas Eve meal... but it's been that way for as long as I can remember and it's delicious so I don't question it Christmas Day We sit down to a family breakfast then exchange all gifts among the immediate family in the morning. In the afternoon my grandparents come over and we exchange gifts with them... we kinda sit around and talk/drink/etc. and then have a family dinner, usually a turkey but occasionally it's been a ham or something else... it's oddly not as strict as the lasagna for Christmas Eve.

Ever since my Sister had kids, I've gone down to Atlanta to see them with the proud grandparents, a.k.a my mom and dad.
From there we play a lot of video and board games, and celebrate my sister's birthday on the 24th, eat a ton, give out gifts, and go to the movies later on Christmas day.

This really isn't MY tradition per se, but I think its a great story. When my father was growing up, every year his family had a traditional German Christmas Eve dinner consisting of several courses-and with each course they had to down a shot of warm whiskey with honey. When my parents were dating, one year my mother finally decided to eat Christmas Eve dinner with my father and his family. First my mother was perplexed by the multitude of silverware, since my Oma (dad's mom) insisted on being ultra formal-so my dad had to whisper to her "just work your way you." But worse, she had never drank before in her life, and by the time the last course was served she was ready to pass out. My dad still laughs about this, but for some reason my mom turns into a Grinch when it is mentioned.

We don't have many. On Christmas Eve, we each open one present. On Christmas Day, we get up at around 8 and open gifts. Then my aunts / uncles / cousins come over for dinner and we open the gifts for/from them. We also keep the A Christmas Story marathon on all day. That's pretty much it.

Buy 4 gifts for under $20 apiece. Give them to immediate family members. Receive gifts that I'm thankful for but somehow end up making me sad.
I really don't like holidays. Totally get why the suicide rate is so high around this time of year. It's all based on how good your family life is, and mine is not good. Also I'm working really hard on losing weight, and it's all about eating and indulging in shit.
Once I start a family of my own, I think I'll enjoy holidays again.

Watch Die Hard Christmas Eve. This year I already saw it on the big screen last Wednesday and I still can't wait.

Have a drink drinks on Christmas Eve or go out with friends down to our local pub which is usually jammed packed with people from our local school. Not always fun seeing idiots you haven't seen since 16 but my friends don't want to go anywhere else. Then on Christmas Day I open presents with my mum and then have a English Breakfast. I play a few videos games which I've got for Christmas over the next few hours and then a bunch of other family members come and we have dinner and drink alot of wine.

Usually me and the family get together on Christmas Eve and have dinner (my mom usually makes eye round roast, which is always great...even if she's been trying to find a new dinner every year) and then we watch Christmas Vacation. A couple years ago, we added The Muppet Family Christmas to the rotation beforehand (the one with the Muppets and Sesame Street characters together; my brother's friend burnt it onto a DVD since it's pretty much out of print). With my brother being married now, that's when they usually go back home and do his wife's Xmas Eve stuff.
Christmas morning back in my childhood was that me and my two brothers always stood on the top step waiting to come downstairs. Obviously we can't do that anymore (although we always take a picture of the three of us on the top step together now) so it's pretty much now where my brother and his wife return, we come downstairs whenever we feel like it and have breakfast while opening presents. That's pretty much it. It really depends on where it goes from there. We used to go to my grandmothers for Xmas, but with her getting older, my aunt and uncle always hold a Xmas party now at their house. Even moving up to PA, we went down there, but usually now it's hit or miss. I don't think we're doing that this year, and probably just taking a day later to just see my grandmother, which is why we mostly go down there.
This is also the first year that me and my older brother are away from home during the holidays. We'll go down there on Xmas Eve and come back the day after.

When I was growing up, we'd head to my Grandma's place on Xmas eve... they'd all eat Oyster Stew while I had Chicken Nuggets. Then, we'd gather in the living room and open presents with whoever could make it that year... it was awesome, we'd do a round-robin thing where everyone would open one present, it'd go to the next person and so on... gave us a chance to spend time together, talk, enjoy each other's company... plus have a constant stream of new stuff for a couple hours.
Since moving away from home, though.... there haven't been any real tradtions. Even since my son has been born. Basically we just buy him presents, he opens them up on Xmas Eve... then Xmas Day we leave out our big-nut Santa present for him. Usually unwrapped. Then at some point either before or after Xmas, my parents will come into town for a few days.
However, we'll be moving back, closer to my folks later on this year. After that, we'll probably restart the round-robin thing with them. Basically the same tradition as when I was a kid, just one generation later. Kinda cool when you think of it that way.
