No matter how many times I seen it I always make sure to watch it at least once during the marathon. Anyone else do the same?

Like I just posted in the Christmas tradition thread, we keep it on the marathon all day. My dad loves that movie.

Always watch it once on DVD and if I happen to turn on the 24 hour marathon I might catch bits and pieces of it here and there. It's easily one of my top 2 favorite Christmas movies, with the other being A Christmas Carol (George C. Scott version)

It blows my mind that with all of the hype this movie gets, the deleted Flash Gordon fantasy sequence still hasn't surfaced. There are even stills of it hanging up at the Christmas Story house museum in Cleveland.

Usually the weekend before I head to the coast for the holidays I watch my DVD of it. But once it first played on HBO I have had a vhs copy that we watched every year. Last year we watched it and the that "sequel" that came out last year.

I think Bob Clark would be proud that in his long career of films that this one has become a modern day classic alongside the charlie brown and Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer christmas specials.

I get it through Netflix and it was barely worth the time it took for me to walk to the mailbox.

Bob Clark actually has 2 or possible classics in his directing career. Christmas Story,Porkys and you can possibly consider Black Christmas as a classic of 70s horror.

I think I may have seen it too many times. I hadn't watched it in probably a decade and last year my parents put it in and I was bored with it. In fact I fear that they may subject us to it again this year.

It suppose they show it for 24 hours because it is a throwback to a much more innocent time. Ralphie is the Hannah Montana without the character getting older or the actor trying to turn into someone worthy of an XXX rating.
That being said, I watched a few hours of the marathon several years ago and that's about all I could handle. I couldn't make it past a few minutes the next year.

I've been rocking my ACS fandom before it was "cool." No matter how overexposed and hyped it gets nowadays, I will always love this movie. That said, I only go back and forth to the marathon and watch random parts. I will probably just watch the DVD before, as I hear the TBS version cuts some things for time and I miss seeing/hearing the original version of the end credits, with that magical version of We Wish You A Merry Christmas.
Years later, it has also inspired me to read up on Jean Shepherd in general, and has shown me what a body of work he has around what inspired ACS.

While it's not in our rotation every Xmas now, I still watch bits and pieces of it during the marathon. Always and forever a classic.

Finally, I'll say it......... I've never liked it. Ever. Yeah. I'm the guy. Co-signed. Never found it charming or funny or anything. It blows my mind it came out in 1983. I know it's supposed to be a heartwarming story from the 40's or whatever...but the entire movie just lacks anything engaging. Nothing about this family in any sense really renders a reason for me to care. There's cute anecdotes, I guess but nothing that doesn't wear off after 5 seconds. I just can't bring myself to care about the characters or anything that goes on. Then again, that's a recurring theme I've found with EVERY Bob Clark movie I've ever watched.
