I f***ing hate it with a passion. I haven't downloaded the update since I'm getting a new computer this week anyways. I am really considering in switching to an iMac because I hate it so much. Then there is a good deal on a good laptop that I can possibly do PC gaming on that is just 999 bucks. But after all the shit Microsoft did the past two years I'm going to feel like a sell out.

If you have a hard time finding programs you use often, just pin them the bar at the bottom. That's what I do and rarely have to use the search engine thing on the left to find stuff. The only problem I had was trying to find the shut down button the first time around and how to get to the desktop after logging in.

I have it running on my three year old Macbook. I don't even boot into OS X anymore. The only real issue I have is the spotty performance of Cool Edit Pro 2.1 (it doesn't work with headphones), but it's a 14 year old program. i have to upgrade at some point.

I have it and I sort of had to get used to it because deploying it has become a huge part of my job. Wasn't a fan at first but now I wouldn't use anything else. Not the biggest fan of 8.1, I don't like the new start menu thing, but 8 is nice. It's so much easier to navigate than 7. You can customise your start page. If something's not there, you just type it in, rather than go all "Start > All Programs > Sports Interactive > Football Manager > Football Manager.exe" Doing it that way just seems slow and clunky now. Some of it - the built in apps etc. - I can and do live without. You just remove the tile and forget it was ever there. But navigation and performance are just so far superior.
People resist it, and I see that every day. They're people at companies who know Windows 7 or XP or whatever and see that there's no Start icon and just don't want to learn a new way of doing things. If I sit them down, show them the functionality, they warm to it. The people who don't like, I've found, tend to be people who don't want to give it a chance.

I hate it.
Which ever dickwad came up with the idea to remove the start menu should never work in computing again. I've had for like almost a year and I'm still struggling to find programmes and such.
Plus the fact Fallout doesn't work on it is extremely irritating. I also HATE the fact that despite all their fiddling, the one thing Microsoft decided to to fix or improve was the utterly useless Network Diagnostic tool... which I hate.
Whenever my internet isn't working and I click that, I KNOW it is going to say something like "such and such a cable can not be found" or "such and such isn't working" whilst giving NO details on how to fix the problem or indeed, whether it can be fixed or if it's a problem with the internet provider. It's useless. It's been useless for years. Yet Microsoft don't see fit to upgrade and improve it.

My wife likes it. I don't have it on my own computer, but for my phone.
