This is the thing about twitter; shit that may sound funny to you in private doesn't go so well public

This is the thing about twitter; shit that may sound funny to you in private doesn't go so well public I think part of it is that people like Frankie Boyle and Sarah Silverman get get away with saying outrageous stuff on twitter, so people think they can too. Except they don't have the cushion of being well-known comedians.

www.justinesacco.com/Also, saw one article saying she was fired after an "accidentally" racist tweet. How in the hell is that accidental? It's gonna sound racist however you twist it!

I'm not even sure what the joke is supposed to be. so it fails at comedy, too.

It's not racist, theres a lot of people with AIDS in Africa and almost 100% of them are black. It's an epidemic that's killed millions over the years. It's a garbage joke in piss poor taste that you'd expect a public relations agent would have enough brains in her head not to tweet. That's some of the worst judgment I've ever seen, good lord woman.

Credit to Huffington Post for describing IAC as an "Internet media company". I've so far seen three articles which just wrote "IAC", because apparently that name is on the same level of general public knowledge as say AOL or BBC.

That tweet from a seasoned PR professional...damn that's just bad.
The posts about the fireman arsonist, it's actually a pretty common crime for a fire fighter to fall into, it's similar to the hero cop syndrome, where a cop will set up a crime so they can "save the day". The rush is public adoration, sort of similar to Munchhausen.
It's not an "all the time" thing, of course, but it does happen more than one might think.

As someone who took part in making fun of Justine, I don't feel bad at all. I'm tired of people thinking they can say racist shit without facing blowback. She has the right to say whatever offensive thing she wants, but I also have the right to mock the hell out of her ignorance & bigotry.
And on another note, her daddy is a billionaire. She'll live.

Funny how the free speech advocates aren't bleating on about this woman's rights. It's spawned some fantastic memes though. It's more of the fact that the Duck Dynasty people seem like homophobic/racist assholes (thus it's no surprise), and this woman is a PR person who should know better. Not that the guy from Duck Dynasty shouldn't be fired too, but still.

He at least had the good sense to say "I'm incredibly ashamed of her. She's a f***ing idiot" Rather quickly pile on justification.

I'm always amazed how people risk good jobs by tweeting shit online. It's as if there's a disconnect between their brains and their fingers.

The only logical explanation would be that she was TRYING to lose her job. I mean...how do you not know what a bad idea posting that is?

I'm always amazed how people risk good jobs by tweeting shit online. It's as if there's a disconnect between their brains and their fingers. It isn't that. It's that people think that they are entitled to say whatever they want with no repercussions and they misunderstand how the first amendment works. The craziness of the last few days has proven that pretty clearly.

Yeah the 1st Amendment is one of those "with great power comes great responsibility" things. It protects your speech whether it's asinine or inspirational, and in the former case you better believe that you will get called out and never EVER be able to take-backsies what you said (even in the heat of the moment, while you're wasted, or perhaps the worst case scenario as a victim of a Twitter/Facebook hack where someone hijacks your online identity to make pee-pee jokes on your wall).
