I was doing a bit of Christmas shopping the other day, and one of the things on my nephew's list was something called "Skylanders." I didn't know what these were, so I did some research and I guess it's a video game you play that uses interchanging plastic figurines as the playable characters. There is this little platform where you place the figurine that you want to play as, and the game will read it and let you play as that character. But there are several different characters divided into eight different elements. That weird interactive stuff. But they sort reminded me of those old Battle Beast figurines I used to play with as a kid. Sure, there was no video game that you could play and they only had three elements. Fire, wood, and water. But damn if these little things weren't neat as hell. They made so many of them and I would have enjoyed it if there was a game made to go with them. So who else remembers these little nuggets of fun?

I probably have them lying around somewhere. I loved the lion dude in blue with the eyepatch and the Walrus guy.

Battle Beast? One of my favorite PC games when I was younger. Yeah, it had lag issues as well as awful controls, but the fun of everything was the humor as the style. I always liked to play at the turtle, who used his shell as a whacking stick. The baby dinosaur and dog were pretty cool too. Never was a fan of the fish, rhino or rat. Of course, the Toadmaster was f***in' impossible to beat for some reason. Oh wait....Battle Beasts. Yeah, never really got into them.

I played with that years after I lost all my other Battle Beasts. edit: this thing.

Had a few battle beasts back in the day, but it was a rather short lived line and I never got into them as heavily as I did Masters of the Universe, or comic book super heroes (Marvel, DC, ect)
