Nope, never watched them before WWE. I've seen a few old matches and promos since, based on recommendation, but Punk won me over in ECW (he just looked so happy to be there, it was infectious), and Bryan won me over with the tie incident and everything since. (When he was on NXT, I was mostly enjoying Miz's reactions to him... remember when he tried to literally rub his charisma on him? Hee.)

I didn't follow either of them in the indies, but was familiar with them through reading forums.
I'm pretty sure I did see Bryan once at an indie show when I was in Australia. Think Nigel Mcguiness was on the show too. The only person I remember being defo there was billy Kidman.
Anyway yeah I become fans of them both purely through their wwe work

I became an indie wrestling fan around 2006. Bryan Danielson was the ROH Champion and I think Punk was still in OVW. I followed Bryan pretty closely from that point and caught some older Punk matches but didn't see a new match of his until he debuted on ECW against Justin Credible.

Honestly, don't care that much. They're here ('here' being WWE) now.
I don't get why it seems like some people still want to portray them as "outsiders" who aren't "really WWE". Punk's been with the company for what, 7 (almost 8) years now?

About the time I started reading about indie wrestling and stuff like that was in late 2006 when I signed up here. So by that point CM Punk was already on ECW, I knew of Bryan though because of his huge following, never really watched any of his matches before NXT though because I didn't actually watch much indie stuff at the time.

I've only watched them in WWE, and they're still my two favorite wrestlers. That's why I always laugh when people make all those blanket statements about "THE INDEEEZ" in regard to people marking for those guys, as if their fanbase is exclusively comprised of independent wrestling fans. You know, they have done stuff on WWE programming to make themselves entertaining...

The only thing I watch/ever have watched is WWE aside from TNA in 2005-2007.

I first started coming on boards like these in '04 when I really started to get back into wrestling. Back then, the two indy guys I'd always hear about were CM Punk and American Dragon. I only saw a little bit of their stuff back then but what I saw I liked. I've never really searched out any of their Indy stuff, though I've seen a bit of it.

Heard about them, but never watched them on the indies.

I can count the indy matches I've watched in total on one hand, so no. I've heard both of their names for years and years before they got to WWE, though. And I did catch Bryan/Low Ki down in FCW.

I have not seen that many indy matches of either guy. The vast majority of what I have seen was after they came to WWE.

I knew of their indy careers long before either joined WWE. But aside from a match with Raven, I never saw any of Punk's work before WWE.
And I never saw any of Bryan Danielson's work before NXT, aside from his Velocity match with John Cena.

Bryan, yes. But when I got into indy wrestling Punk had already been signed. But I did see most of his big stuff before he hit the main roster.

Punk's been with the company for what, 7 (almost 8) years now? This is true. Punk was only in ROH for like 3 years and he's been with WWE for 7 or 8 like you said. Bryan was with ROH for 7 and now with WWE for 4 I think but they've both made very solid careers for themselves in WWE alone, especially Punk and I'm sure Bryan isn't too far behind.

First time I saw CM Punk was on the weekly TNA ppvs. That in turn made me follow Punk to ROH where I learned about Bryan Danielson. Long story short, if they keep letting Punk and Bryan (along with Cesaro and when he's called up Sami Zayn) go all out, WWE is just gonna keep getting better.

Only followed them in WWE. If you get real, real bored, go back and see some of the shit I said about Punk went he debuted and the years after. After listening to yapping about him on the Net for so long, when he couldn't shoot lasers from his eyes and levitate, I was disappointed. Took a while for me to appreciate his work.
