I just think Norways mental health system is messed up....this guy killed at least 22 people and now he's a free man , ask yourself what's wrong with that picture :/

I just think Norways mental health system is messed up....this guy killed at least 22 people and now he's a free man , ask yourself what's wrong with that picture :/ actually Norway has a very good prison and mental health system. very low recidivism rate. their max prison sentence is 20 years, so there's actually incentive to reform. its only problem was dealing with loons like Anders Breivik, who their system didnt really have a response for, so they ended up fudging things to keep him locked up for life. read up on it, it's actually pretty interesting stuff.

Their prison also actually encourage inmates to reform by making them realize they have more to win from legal work and teaching them the skills they'll need to find a honest job once they go out, instead of the system most countries use of locking them away from civilized interaction for months or years and more or less leaving them to their own device in an overcrowded environment, with outnumbered and under-equipped guards, that encourages violence and deceit which turns tax evaders into drug dealers, drug dealers into murderers, murderers into hitmen, etc... where all they have to look for once they go out is years missing from their life, no honest talents to use (assuming their record would allow them to get a job) but a lot of knowledge of crime and the only people giving them an opportunity for a bright future being gangsters. People need to stop believing that prisons' role is to punish and start realizing that its role is to educate and reform. You can't heal a wound by beating someone over the head and yelling at them to stop bleeding or else.
