There is a rapper who's name is short for Most Definiely aka Mos Def and Mos Def is from New York

These streets will make you feel brand new
Big lights will inspire you, let's hear it for New York

There was a pop punk band from New York called Brand New



There are obviously more shout outs to musicians from New York in the song whcih I saw straight away after looking through the lyrics online but the other ones I noticed were being directly referenced and not hidden like these two which are really subtle. Can anyone spot anymore?

It may be a little bit of a stretch but one of the lyrics is Good Girls Gone Bad. Cobra Starship who is from New York has a song called Good Girls Gone Bad both were released in 09
