For me, the best comedy sketch ever is the one below. It combines two of my favourite things, drinking and more drinking.
Classic comedy from the 80s, Not the Nine 'O Clock News. Brilliant.

I can't top those two. But I would like to put the Cheese Shop sketch up with them.

Here's a more modern one from Big Train, shame they only did 2 series of it, it was fantastic.

as a very small child this sketch was the most incredible thing i'd ever seen, it literally broke something inside me, i had no idea what was going on. It changed me and how i looked at comedy forever

The greatest?
Probably "Who's on First?". Not an Abbott and Costello guy, but I must admit that it is fairly humorous and it's lasting effect.

Monty Python's "Pope and Michaelangelo" gets me laughing like crazy every time. I can't even quote it without busting a gut.

Bookshop by Monty Python. Cracks me up each and every time I hear it. And since I've first heard it, I've corrected spelling or have said 'Coperfield with ONE P, also by Edmund Welles' or something to that effect, quoting the skit.

I absolutely love Chris Morris, and "The Day Today" remains one of the best things he's ever done. This is a spot-on parody of early-90's MTV Europe:
