So I got WWE 2K14 last night as a Christmas gift, and I looked forward to playing it this afternoon. I put it in, and it tells me I can't play if I don't increase system output. I screw around with the settings, and find that I can't get the output to 480p, thus preventing me from playing the game. Now, I don't know if it's my TV (an older magnavox model, not flatscreen or HD), or the game (which, according to the packaging, was shipped from Hong Kong), but this is frustrating the hell out of me. Anyone else having this issue? Anyone know what to do?

Well, I have two TV, one HD with HDMI cable, and one old TV with standard yellow-red-white cable. I found that the game just won't play in the SDTV (telling me that I can't play the game with the current system output setting), while I could play it with no problem in the HD one. So uh... yeah, I think the problem is in your TV.

I just have an SD TV, a fairly old one, and it works fine on that, so not sure what the issue would be.

I just have an SD TV, a fairly old one, and it works fine on that, so not sure what the issue would be. I think the issue is related to consoles. The Xbox 360 has a hardware scaler meaning that, regardless of the native resolution the game, the console will adjust to make sure it outputs correctly to your TV. The Playstation 3 doesn't have that, meaning that, if the game can't actually deal with downsizing the resolution of the screen, then nothing can be done to fix it other than changing the output. This explains why every 360 game lists 1080p as a valid resolution, while PS3 versions of the same game don't.

So, what do y'all suggest that I do? I'm not sure what the issue is (whether it's the disc or my TV), and customer support is jammed with callers. Any help?

I had the same problem with Payday 2. I bought an HDMI cable and it works now. my TV is flatscreen BTW.

So, basically, unless I get an HDMI cable, I can't play it? I've looked online for help, but the only hardware problems people have are stuff like "my 70 inch plasma TV won't play this in 1080p HD!". So, am I f***ed here?
