Because I hate flying, she's okay with it, her partners okay with it and my dad's okay with it and yet I still feel guilty, is there anything I could do to make the guilt go away? like listen to soft music or do something that relaxes me?

You could go to the wedding. The cost's going to be too great if I really don't want to be there and they don't want to spend all that money just to change my mind, I'm going to the party afterwards in the local club where I live so I don't feel totally guilty.

You could go to the wedding. Ha! Beat me to it. In actual advice, is it accessible by rail or some other ground transportation that won't freak you out?

Your mom has sacrificed a lot for you (probably), suck it up, it would mean a lot to her. For few people actually like flying btw.

I think you should Skype in. That's what I plan to do, I'm going to Skype with her partners family, who I'm really excited about seeing, and I'm going to a sort of after-party in the local club.

The way I see it, people are only bad at flying when it's something they don't want to do and thus they use it as an excuse. I bet you if it was your special day with tons of womens wrestlers and things you like you'd be there OP.
If you legitimately have a fear of flying and would have a panic attack if you got on a plane I'd try and see a Psychologist and work through it maybe before you have to go to the wedding. Sometimes a Psychologist can work through it with you very quickly.
Obviously my points above show that you definitely should be there and not be trying to get rid of the guilt. It's your mothers special day and she probably would love her son to be there.

IMO, you should just nut up and go. I mean, it's your ma's wedding, think of all the stuff she's had to put up with for you, can't you do this one thing for her?
Plus, you don't want her new fella resenting you because you wouldn't go to the wedding.

As long as everyone is okay with it and understand your situation, I wouldn't worry too much about it. I understand wanting to be there but I completely understand your situation. I won't get on a plane either. Only way I would ever get on a plane is if my parents or brother was in some sort of life or death situation where I had to fly. Otherwise, I am staying on the ground.

My theory in life is that there are certain times that you need to sacrifice your fears and beliefs in order to honor your family. A mother's wedding is one of these times. As others have said, she has probably sacrificed more than you realize for you. Yes, it will hit you financially and yes it will suck to fly, but it is your mother. As long as she has been a good mother to you, you need attend. When all fails, family is all that we have in this life.

Go to your doctor and explain the situation. Ask him to prescribe you some Ativan. Take one just before the plane lifts off, and it will be smooth sailing the whole way.

Depends on what number wedding it is for one thing. If it is 6th? Nah, forget that.

Just listen to as much early Three 6 Mafia as you can while you think about the decision and the advice given to you

Not going to this wedding sounds like it would be one of those life-long regrets that will forever hang over your head if you don't do it. I'd go.
