Okay of the kid sketch shows, 80's vs 90's, So which sketch show was better, All That or You Can't Do That On Television?
Here is a breakdown, it depends on prefrences, on All That the cast seemed more like actors, they got to play character, on You Can't Do That On Televsion for the most part the kids were playing themselves, most of the characters were by adults mainly the late great Les Lyle.
Also on All That had like 3 sketches per episode, You Can't Do That On Television had a bunch of sketches per episodes, in that category I defentely go with You Can't Do That On Television, I perfer quick sketches than dragging long sketches if they are bad especially.
All That gave us Amanda Bynes, Kenan Thompson among others, You Can't Do That On Television gave us Alanis Morrisette.
I say this, the last two seasons of You Can't Do That On Television is more watchable, than the last four seasons of All That, though they all guilty of using too much toliet humor, but the new All That took it way farther and lasted longer.
I think I am leaning more towards You Can't Do That On Television, I love the pre empts they are hillrous, maybe not as good as Saturday Night Live's pre empts, I like the shorter sketches, and Les Lyle can act circles around Dan Schneider, Kevin Koppolow and any of the other adult actors on All That.
But when they were in prime, I enjoyed both.

Neither has aged that well, tbh. The library joke in All That was funny, but You Can't gave us the slimings, which was a huge part of Nick. since Nick was a huge part of my childhood, I have to give it to You Can't.

All That gave us Kenan and Kel which gave us Good Burger. It also gave us Amanda Bynes, which gave us The Amanda Show which gave us Drake and Josh. So that's a plus Anyway, I was born in 91 so I have no memory of You Cant Do That on television. I enjoyed All That, but I remember hating the mid 00's relaunch with the new cast

Okay that is like complementing the Avatar: The Last Airbender franchise for giving us The Last Airbender movie, or the Star Wars franchise for giving us the christmas special.

I will give you this, it is much better than the Last Airbender movie.

You Can't Do That On Television is such an iconic part of my childhood. It's almost impossible for me to imagine how anyone could pick anything over it.

You Can't Do That On Television, I loved the show as a kid. And it led to me having a weird fascination with Canadian accents...
And even though I enjoyed the early seasons of "All That", it got really crappy towards the end and helped usher in the dark age of Dan Schneider who has ruined Nick with his annoying shows like iCarly and Sam & Cat.

I do remember really thinking one of the chicks on All That was pretty cute, that's all I remember much of that show. Her and the fat chick, I recall her too.

This is a silly argument.
It's just like saying "Hey, who here is around 30 and who is closer to 20?"

I was born in 82, got cable in 89, so I was at the age that grew up with both of them.
One un intentional hillarous thing on You Can't Do That On Television that as a kid I didn't notice, is when they had a minority cast memeber on the show, like the black kid or the asain girl, is they had sketches in which a white couple had a black son or an asain daughter, locigly it makes no sense unless they adopted or mom has some serious explaining to do.
Actully today ironicly today You Can't Do That On Television lives up to its name, as some of its material can never been done on children or family television shows today like the firing squad and the dungon sketches. If Nickelodeon wanted to air it today just for nostalga kicks, they can only show episodes without the firing squad and dungon sketches, or edit them out.

This is a silly argument. It's just like saying "Hey, who here is around 30 and who is closer to 20?" The heyday of "You Can't" was around 1983-84 when they started airing shows every single day at 3:30 & 6pm, not just on Mondays and Wednesdays at 3. I was 9-10 then, do the math and I'll be 40 next year. Fun little discovery: I'm in the rare minority of kids in the '80s - watchers of children's religious programming as well as "You Can't..." fans - would find out the teen sketch show "Fire By Night" used the exact same set as the Nickelodeon show. Kind of a neat little find one Saturday morning. Then again, a lot of the shows on WCFC had home addresses based out of Toronto.

Born in '78. Watched "You Can't..." when I was in elementary school and "All That" during my junior and senior years of high school. (I sound old now).
Anyway, both have their charm, and are clearly products of their time. It's hard to choose which was better, as they both take me back to certain parts of my youth.
