Idk, can you really go back to living with housemates after living on your own? There's just so much more freedom without housemates. Of course a lot of people living on their own eventually move in with a significant other, but that's a different barrel of fish than living with housemates (especially if they're housemates you weren't friends with first). Well, the week I got my first full time job, I moved out of home to living on my own. So I've never had housemates before, and I've never had a chance to build any kind of savings. I currently pay $290/week in rent, where as living with others, I could be paying $150 - $200. For the sake of saving money, even if it's just for a year or two, I'm totally open to living with some strangers.

It's something I'm actually trying to do now. In fact, one of the things I'm trying to do before I move to New York is get $7,000 saved up and well...I'm nowhere close to that. Oh well, I'll just try to keep working more double shifts at my job to slowly get there. Back on topic not sure how you'd like living with housemates if you never did it before. Everyone's different and some people have great experiences. I think I've lived with somewhere between 15-30 housmates at different times since I moved out of my mom's house in 2005 and a high perecentage of them I'm pretty glad I'll never have to see again.

I currently have the ideal living situation for myself right now. I live in a 2 bedroom townhouse with a roommate right in the center of Midtown Sacramento. Midtown is the cultural hub of the city and I'm smack dab in the middle of it. It's awesome being able to park my car on Friday after work and not needing to use it until Monday morning because I'm walking distance to all the major bars in town.
The rent is reasonable and the location is perfect for a young single individual like myself.

4 bedroom terraced house near the center of Chester. Me and three other people, although me and one of the others are hoping to move to somewhere smaller and closer to the University next September.
It's not a bad set up, got the basic kitchen appliances, Shower's a bit iffy at times but it's not too bad. IMO, I've got the best of the rooms, it's on the ground floor with the window looking right out onto the pavement, but it's f***ing huge for what I pay and got a double bed.
Only problem is the fact we have to pay bills, eyeing up a place that's a similar price and all inclusive on the road leading up to the University at the moment, need to consult with my housemate though.

My wife and I live in a two bedroom apartment in the Atlanta metro area (outside of The Perimeter). Our place is on the second floor, between a couple with several dogs and a multigenerational redneck family, complete with screaming matches, ass cleavage and two parrots that won't shut the hell up. It's an older complex, and getting the maintenance people to fix anything is like pulling teeth, but it's a palace compared to our last place. I'll take an old as shit refrigerator, drafty windows and unreliable light sockets over mold, spotty heat and a horror movie-level bedbug infestation any day. I've been in two living situatiosn with bedbugs before. Worst shit ever and next to impossible to get rid of. If anyone reading this thread has them then you should know the only surefire way to get rid of them is to move (and spray everything you take with you to death with 91 percent alcohol). Yeah. We lost about 65% of our stuff. It would have been even worse if weren't for Space Bags and our Food Saver. The exterminor said it was the worst infestation he had ever seen. The worst part, aside from the whole "losing almost everything" thing, was that the landlords claimed we were lying about the bugs coming out of the walls. "Bedbugs do not live in walls," he said. "Bedbugs live in beds!"

"Bedbugs live in beds!" Yeah, landlords can be real scummy about that sort of thing. Pretty much just because they don't want to pay to have anything done about it. Also, I didn't really mention it in my initial reply, but yeah it sucks how much stuff you have to just junk. I sprayed everything to death with 91 perecent alcohol, but some things you just don't want to take any chances on in case some bugs could be hiding in crevecies. Some things like that included luggage, clothing and even some furniture. The scariest thing has to be if you go through the entire process of getting rid of the bugs only to find one after you thought you were done with them. Because there is never just one left.

Living with a roommate and his wife in OKC. Moving back to Sacramento to live with my brother and our grandmother very soon though. Not the most ideal situation but it's a lot better than how I used to live.

How's it going? For me, I live with my parents in a small extension of a friend of ours. Honestly, it's a bit of a miracle we weren't homeless last year. Hoping to move to a bigger temporary place in the near future (which has been delayed due to the manufactured house in the park being condemned, drivers not working out and the owner of the park being diagnosed with lung cancer.)

Large 1 bedroom apt on the NW side of the Twin Cities. Thankful I don't need a roommate, 15 min from work, can technically walk to a grocery store and local pizza place.

2 bedroom & 2 bath apartment on the 3rd floor. I live with my boyfriend and our cat. We have a balcony and a washer & dryer hookup which is great. Landlords are really good, anything we have needed looked at, they have seen to as soon as possible.

I'm 21 and I (still) live with my parents and my grandmother (my dad's mom) in a 3 bedroom house. I don't have to pay rent or anything but I've always offered to help out when/if I can get a job.

My wife and I just bought a relatively 4 bedroom new house in a subdivision on the outskirts of Bloomington, IN. We have been here a little over a month now.
