I don't think there would have been much difference. On paper they have the ability to put on a quality match so people would have still been disappointed at missing out on that.

What if Daniel Bryan beat Sheamus for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 28 in 18 seconds instead of the other way around? What would the IWC's reaction to that have been? I'd still be pissed, because they were both ripped off the year before, and deserved to show what they had regardless of outcome.

A Wrestlemania match should never last that short amount of time, never mind a f***ing world title match. No-one benefits. The winner, the loser, the audience - no-one.

It would have made 0 sense in the context of the storyline.
It made sense for Bryan to lose that way, even if people weren't happy about it.

The problem with the match was that it was 18 seconds long, not because Bryan lost.

Personally, I would have marked like crazy. But realistically, there still would have been more confusion, because people just wanted to see a good back-and-forth match to open WM, not a squash. Especially for the second biggest title in the company.

I would have loved it, my first reaction would be "Haha hell yeah!" followed by "I guess Sheamus failed wellness or didn't spot HHH correctly at the gym". The crowd probably would have loved it, too, they were very very very pro-D Bry that night.
That said, in hindsight it'd be a bad idea.

The crowd on Raw the next night would have chanted "ARSE, ARSE, ARSE"

We probably would have gotten a generic singles match at Extreme Rules instead of the truly astounding 2 out of 3 Falls Match we got that SHOULD have opened Wrestlemania.

I was angry because I paid to see Mania partly because I wanted to see what those two could do on that stage, and had done the previous year (when they were cut without notice) and I was suckered Af***INGGAIN. I haven't paid full price for a show since, only ever paid to watch at a bar.
