Just finished watching this and, my God, what a goddamned masterpiece.
I had never seen it before, nor did I really care to even though I'm a big Tom Hanks fan, but I saw it on Netflix so I thought I'd give it a go. I'm really, really glad I did; beautifully written, beautifully directed and beautifully acted by everybody in the film. Start to finish just an incredible film, and only the second that's ever made me tear up (the other being Toy Story 3 - starring Tom Hanks, funny enough).
So, yeah, what did you think of it, FAN? It's weird, until I saw the date I had always thought it came out sometime in the 80's.

While I am a huge fan of both Pulp and Shawshank, I still believe Forrest Gump deserved that Best Picture Oscar.

I enjoyed the film a lot when I first saw it, but re-watching it as an older person, I must say that the film seemed like a visual narrative that was meant to showcase classic songs on a VERY frequent basis. It felt contrived in that respect, like the film was a stretched out music video medley.

Saw this when it came out and wasn't a big fan of it. But I am not a Tom Hanks fan. I prefer the novel to the film.
