I was actually surprised at those. Looks like with a slow burn he could be WWE's next "guy".

They were chanting "Let's go Sheamus" silly.

Everyone thought Ambrose was going to be The Guy, and rolled their eyes when they stuck Reigns with them ("Ooooh, nepotism, and he's a hoss. What a surprise.") But once he started showing his true ability, he shut EVERYBODY up.
I look forward to seeing him break away from The Shield. And as long as they keep him as a singles version of his current character, fine. But I will go the IWC/Smark route and say that I really really hope they don't make him a smiling babyface who stands up for what's right.

Reigns could definitely work as a face, but between looking like Shang Tsung and his possessed-sounding voice the guy has no business telling jokes or ever being anything but pissed off.

All three will get their shots at breaking out individually. Reigns might get the better opportunities, but they're all talented enough in their own way to be in with a decent shot.

Reason number 324 why I think he's the upgraded version of Goldberg.

With the fans solidly behind him, Roman Reigns looks like the next member of The Wyatt Family.

I really enjoyed the opening segment. Shield and Punk all did really well on the mic and Reigns holding back the loose cannon Ambrose is just great characterization.
I loved Roman's facial expressions and body language during the opening/Rollins vs Punk. You could tell especially what he was thinking when he was holding back Ambrose from Rollins near the end of the match when he cost him the pinfall like "I have to come between these two again! I have had enough of this shit *shakes head*". He has a certain charisma and presence about him, yet he somehow manages to smile and laugh during the matches (if he is on the outside like Rollins/Punk) and not lose any of his demeanor.
A great night to clairify and spotlight the three individual characters of the Shield. I also think Ambrose did great in the opening as well.

They're doing a very good job slowly building him up. And yes he will get the bigger push once the Shield breaks up, since he'll probably feud with and go over Ambrose when that happens.

It reminded me of the Cody chants when Cody was in Legacy.

But I will go the IWC/Smark route and say that I really really hope they don't make him a smiling babyface who stands up for what's right. Being good and being over are two different things. On one hand, pushing Batista in 2005, who was over but he wasn't 'good' (not to say he was 'bad', but he wasn't Eddie Guerrero or Shawn Michaels or Kurt Angle in the ring), made sense. Hell, I actually liked how Batista's slow-burn face turn came about, and his turn was probably the last time I was happy with the way an angle played out from start to finish. So I get why WWE would push guys who are over but who aren't necessary good because they want to make money. On the flip side, someone like Steve Austin in 1998 was over AND good. It's not to say that every major star in the history of WWE was over AND good, but I think the cream of the crop certainly were. Yes, they are different things, but if they work in tandem when a guy's really starting to catch on with fans and he's having great matches and giving great promos, it only makes sense to run with it. Then you have guys who aren't over but who are good. Tyson Kidd is good, but he's not over. But you need those guys too because they make your other guys look good, they help your other guys get over even more. Then you have guys who aren't over and who aren't good. But even they get pushed sometimes. I like Reigns. I think he's getting over. But I also think he's good, at least, he's good at what he does/what he's given to do. I think if they keep him working with people like Bryan, Punk, or Cena, he'll only develop into a better all-around talent. I want to see him get a good push, but WWE shouldn't strap a rocket on him until 2015. Keep him strong and in the public eye during 2014, to which a Shield break-up would make this possible, and go from there.

I also think Ambrose did great in the opening as well. That was the most unhinged I've seen him act since the Moxley days/FCW. LOVED it.

Those Roman Reigns chants means the fans want to see Orton vs Cena for the Unified WWE WHC. In a regular match. Is there some way they can do a MORE conventional match style? Like a "60 Minute Rest Hold Iron Man Match with the Title Neatly folded on a table." match.

Has Roman even had a decent singles match with anyone yet? Anything even close to on par with Rollins or Reigns? Not trolling, just asking a legitimate question. I like the guy but they seem reluctant to let him do anything on his own, which concerns me. This match with Punk next week should be very telling.

I don't care who he's related too, but do more than a spear and we'll talk. Remember everyone clamoring for Nexus Skip Sheffield being a bad ass? Now they chant Goldberg at him and he's a goof. Keep him in a protected stable he looks better. I'm all for Roman proving me wrong, I'm just not seeing that bright future yet.
