So as its been out on dvd and Blu-ray a while now and all the initial reactions have died down...im just wondering if anyones thoughts on the movie have changed after rewatching MOS?
I always feel you can judge a movie a little better after rewatching it on DVD a few times and your not sucked into all the hype and publicity.
I have to say I like it a little less than when I watched it in the cinema..Henry Cavill does a great job as superman and the suit looks great however I think the storys a little lacklustre. It feels like a less interesting version of Batman Begins in many scenes. However the one type of scene I wish they had of learnt from was Supermans 'Debut' ...It BB Batmans first appearance at the warehouse was epic and worth the wait. Here Superman just casually walks out and we see him just walking...and he does nothing of note when first introducing himself to the public...it really could of done with a scene like the plane rescue in Superman Returns of Helicopter rescue in Superman. That would've been a way better intro and made the movie better as a whole I think.
So what are everyones opinions on MOS now after rewatching?

still a better film than its detractors say. Kevin Costner is still the worst father ever, though.

Only that I like it even more than I did earlier.

For me it's the second best (live action) Superman movie behind the 1978 Donner flick. Costner's John Kent was a jackass and it needed a few more "rescue" scenes, but other than that it was fun.

It was long and dull in the cinema, and it's long and dull on Blu Ray, only with comfier seats.

It was ok but i didnt find Henry Cavill right as Superman. Far to much destruction too, god knows how the city will ever be rebuilt in such a short space of time. And i hated.. {Spoiler} Superman killing Zod. He never kills so it was quite a shock. Granted he had to something to stop zod from killing the family but still.

It was better than Superman Returns, and i liked Michael Shannon as Zod and the end fight scene was pretty epic, but the film just didnt have the same vibe that im looking for in a superhero film. Seriously, it seems like every DC film since Batman Begins (i havent seen Green Lantern) has got to be deadly ultra-serious. Though it worked for the Dark Knight trilogy and Watchmen, it doesnt work for Superman.

I absolutely loved it. The only thing I didn't like was Kevin Costner as Pa Kent and that he didn't die of a heart attack.
Also, Feora was badass.

Nope, never. Think of it as an elseworlds story if you have to, but please stop using that argument.

The Donner parts from Superman II is still the best Superman movie.

one other thing I've learned from that movie; "Superheroes are never ever supposed to kill anyone ever no matter the circumstances" is one of the most childish arguments of all time. it works in lighter/softer works but in something even remotely serious it makes no sense. try telling a police officer he shouldn't shoot a guy whose on a rampage and shooting people.

Still dislike Shannon's Zod, still dislike the end (not that Supe's kills him, just that they destroy the city and the small town and yet his motivation for killing Zod is a family who might get hurt despite the hundreds of thousands of families they've just damaged fighting for 30 minutes) and still detest what they did to Jonathan Kent. So no, pretty much the same.
Still like Faora, the first flight sequence and how hot Henry Cavill is

It still shows me that they took a character with super speed, strenght, hearing, vision, etc, etc, but failed to make him even moderately creative or quick thinking.

I've softened a little, but still didn't think it was a very good movie. I get what they were going for, but I didn't feel like Superman was really acting the way he should have.
I like how something happening 3 times in like 75 years is enough to make people completely throw away Superman's policy on killing. Hundreds of examples exist of him not doing something, but if he did it 30 years ago in the acid-fueled era of comics we can't possibly think of it as a character trait anymore .

Nothing more exciting than this thread popping up every month so that the same five people can stick it to the haters.
"I WILL FIND HIM!" has moved ahead of "WRONG!" for me in unintentional hilarity, just because of how many times he says it.

It is kind of like the Stallone Judge Dredd in that it feels like a sequel to a movie, in some parts, that never came out, so some of it feels rushed or like a poor use of the character so soon.

And he does Poochie one better in that his mood must be in EVERYTHING.
