So on New Year's Eve, I'm one again in a very depressed and stressed mood. Dad's big check is still not here because of the bank taking forever, we were hit with the Target breach, we're still in our very small temporary house and now the snow will more then likely force me to cancel my MAGfest plans. I cannot even think of MAGfest without nearly having a meltdown now.
I just don't know what to do anymore. To be honest, my nephew is the only thing keeping me alive at this point.

Have a drink and try to relax. Don't let anything that you can't control stress you out man.

It sounds like you're already giving up, you can't let shit that doesn't come through ruin your spirt. I don't know what magfest is and it sucks that for some terrible circumstances you can't attend this year, but you need to come up with an alternative to make yourself happy or save up so next year will be even better.
A positive attitude goes a long way in changing your current situation for the better.

A positive attitude goes a long way in changing your current situation for the better. It's been tough when so much has happened. Here's a timeline: -December 2009: Grandma dies after a sudden heart attack just days after Christmas -January 2010: Grandma is burried. Aunt and Uncle make power play for the house money (My family lived with my Grandma) -May 2010: Have foot surgery to remove a wart. The removal is fine but the trauma of the anesthesia injection still bothers me. -July 2010: Dad has what turns out to be a mini stroke on his birthday while we are eating dinner in Disney World. Still suffer the effects to this day. -2010: Mom breaks off communication with Aunt and family. -September 2011: Nearly succeed in committing suicide. Spent night at psych ward. -August 2012: We find out that in December, my Aunt bought our house (how, we don't know why) and says to pack up. -November 2012: After multiple stays, we are evicted from our house. My parents are forced to move ALL their stuff in 24 hours while I am in DC. If it isn't for a friend near my sister's place, we are probably homeless. -2013: Various checks due to my dad don't arrive with the exception of one, person who owns the side apartment refuses to let us have our dog stay (she's a hypo) and we are forced to pay someone to board her, we only can use one car because of SEVERAL diffeernt places f***ing up the reinstatement of our plates (which were taken due to a misunderstanding), Sister and family have it out multiple times because she is struggling too, and the MAGfest thing. Hard to stay positive when everything goes against you.

Everything you just listed sucks balls especially since they happened so damn close to each other. I was in a severe state of depression when I got screwed by a company I gave 8 years of my life to. It took me over a year to get back to being happy again, that year I was miserable and I have only myself to blame for the rut I put myself in. I stopped being positive and felt sorry for myself , but when I did that I let the world pass me by for a year.
It wasn't until I started going out again and making new friends my perspective on life changed. It was up to me to have a positive attitude, as soon as I started believing in myself and fellow man again good things started happening. I got a new job, met some cool girls, and most importantly had fun again. Life is what you make it, enjoy what little positives you have and start believing good things will happen.

I can't just go out and make friends. I'm in the middle of nowhere and am petrified of driving.

I can't offer an immediate solution, but having dealt with similar feelings of hopelessness in the past, I'll say this: it's hard to believe, but things do get better with time. That said, it doesn't mean that things won't be crap for awhile, or even get better and then turn to crap temporarily, but they do improve. We tend to lose perspective when we're down in the valley and up on the hilltops...it's only when we've travelled the road between that we remember that we're not destined for one or the other.

I know it's not easy, but Tom Cruise was right in Risky Business-sometimes you got to say-What The f***. I just adopted that attitude earlier this year and it has really helped. Just try and let go-you're too hard on yourself and I know about that, I've done it longer than most anyone on these boards

Dude, come on. Surely things aren't THAT bad all the time. Be happy that you're in college and in the process of bettering yourself. It sucks that all that stuff has happened, but shit happens. Not trying to be mean, but we all face adversity. Most of us become better and stronger people because of it.

Graduated already.
I am feeling better today though. Not 100% ruling out MAGfest either (though I'm still not optimistic.) Today's a new year and my nephew (who is the love of my life) turns 2.

But then again, I'm more of the mindset that I really don't deserve any friends. Not even the ones you've made here? The most heinous thing I could accuse either one of you two of is being a little too sensitive. That doesn't make one undeserving of anything.
