I think that the population at large is the main reason radio is so lazy and repetitive is because a large quotient of people are all about hearing the hits and never think to dig deeper with a band no matter how much they might like their single. Classic rock stations in particular, I mean thank God for portable music players. Classic rock stations especially have decades worth of music by the most legendary bands of all time, but yet when they"get the Led out" the songs they choose to play are identical every time despite having the better part of a dozen albums to draw from. Seriously When they play kiss it's ALWAYS "God gave rock and roll", While it's a great song what about "god of thunder" or "crazy nights". It's the same with other artists Most rock stations don't go for the lesser-known hits, but considering how they handle the bands, it almost as if feels as if they are one-hit wonders. For example, everybody has heard "Mother" by Danzig, but you almost never get a chance to listen to any of their other good tracks. Just once, just once, I wanna listen to the studio version of "I Want You to Want Me" on the radio.

Listening to the radio at work for 8-9 hours is torturous really. We have a radio station in the U.K. called Absolute which has a no repeat guarantee between 10-5 every day (but of course when the guarantee is over they do what every other station does) so thats good but having to listen to Heart, Kiss, Capitol or Radio 1 (which I like in small doses but all day no thanks) all day is soul destroying.

I've listened to some albums so much that I don't even hear them anymore. Or I just can't listen to them at all because of associated feelings. I hate when that happens.
