Billy Wilder is one of my favorite filmmakers from the Golden Age of Hollywood. I noticed Netflix currently is streaming five Billy Wilder classics: Double Indemnity; The Seven Year Itch; Witness for the Prosecution; Some Like It Hot; and The Apartment (Best Picture, 1960).
These are all great films, but they're hardly his only great films. There is also Sunset Boulevard, Stalag 17, Sabrina, and The Lost Weekend (Best Picture, 1945). Some of his lesser-known films are also very good like Ace in the Hole, Avanti!, and Irma la Duce.
Anyone else a fan? What are your favorite Billy Wilder films? My favorites are Double Indemnity, Sunset Boulevard, The Apartment, and Stalag 17.

Some like it Hot is one of my favorite films. And Sunset Blvd. grew on me over time. I've only seen The Apartment out of the rest of his films listed though, but from I've seen, he was talented at his craft.

Stalag 17 is one of my all time favorites because you can't really pigeon-hole it as a drama or a comedy. Holden gives an Oscar winning performance as a classic anti-hero, Preminger is great as the camp commandant and you get some great comedic work from Robert Strauss as the Animal and Harvey Lembeck as Harry Shapiro.

The Apartment is probably in my top 20 all time favorite films. Great, great director.
