Today I realized I seriously need to drink more water and cut back on sugary drinks and caffeine. I'm probably dehydrated since it seems like I get even more thirsty when I drink water and low on energy and I'm eating more. This is my main realization and goal since I can save money, get more energy, drop weight, and become healthier.

I've sworn of alcohol. I've been drinking daily for the past three years, ever since I got my first full-time job after graduating college. It's done nothing but made me gain weight, ruin my health and waste my time. It's never reached anything disastrous that's disrupted my life, but I've been worried for a long time that I've been tap-dancing at the edge of being an alcoholic.
I had my first completely sober night's sleep last night on New Year's Day, and it felt so good to sleep, dream (because going to bed after having alcohol prevents you from having REM sleep), and wake up refreshed.

Dude I hope this doesn't come off as harsh but I don't think this sounds like being on the edge of alcoholism but you are an alcoholic. That's great to hear you got your first full REM sleep in a long time

My plan for 2014 goes like this:
Get back to school. Get more socially active. Get in better shape. Get a job. Get it together.

I'd rather not make a resolution knowing I won't stick to it. So I'm just continuing what I decided upon some point last year - just trying to make myself more content in life, and finding a more permanent job.
I could also stand to cut back on the sugary drinks though...

I plan to read a lot more books, watch movies more often, and check out some TV shows on Netflix. I also want to reeducate myself by looking through as many history, science, math, and language websites since I haven't been in college in a long while.

I have a few.
- Get into shape: At 6'1" 155 lbs, I don't feel like I'm fat. I'd just like to get into respectable shape like I once was many moons ago. I hurt my back and gave my soul to video games, so I just stopped working out along the way. The first two days of 2014, I was blessed with a stomach virus. So I haven't exactly had a chance to work on this one yet.
- Get a job: Sorry to say, I've been out of college for three years and have yet to find a job. I've done what I guess would call freelance computer repair here and there, but nothing stable. I've applied everywhere and no luck yet. I'm determined to find one this year, even if that means going to every business around and begging like a sad, pathetic man. If this doesn't work out, I plan on getting a master's degree and hopefully land a teaching job.
- Stop being a miserable bastard: My family and significant other all tell me I'm the most miserable person on the planet. They're probably right. I'm pretty sure I could win the lottery and manage to turn it into something negative. I'd like to change that and just learn to enjoy life without being so pessimistic/cynical.
That's pretty much it for me. I look forward to looking back at the end of the year and realizing I stuck to absolutely none of these things I've listed.

1. Apply myself more for my next college semester. I'm still just over 3.0 for my GPA but I know and my teachers know I'm capable of much more if I put in just a tiny bit more effort.
2. Get back into the gym. I'd been in the best shape of my life earlier this year when I was working out but moving and work caused me to have to cut back on my workout time. I'm still in pretty decent shape but I have other fitness goals that I'd like to meet in regards to running and possibly training for a triathlon within a few years.

My resolutions is mostly to get myself together and see if I can try to at least stay on at my job, finish my education and try to get an internship.
The most important one I need to do is get over my personal demons. One of my main demons is comparing myself to other people and when that happens, I get down on my self, as well as angry and bitter. I need to let that go.

2014 is my year. I made some really big changes late last year, started going hard and losing weight and living right, then I pussed out and slacked off for the holidays, put a little weight back on, got lazy. But I got a taste of what it feels like to know I'm on track and strive for something. Plus there's this girl I want really bad, so that's a great motivator. She's married and all, but eh...it's up to her. If not her, I want someone. Also, I got really hammered on New Years Eve, turned into a raving lunatic and mad an ass of myself, and decided that's not going to happen again. Nothing against booze or anyone who enjoys it, but it is not for me.
So yeah, stick with the workouts, no gratuitous sugar/dairy/carbs, no caffeine, no drinking/drugs, find a full-time job, find a mate.
