So this Big Daddy Yum Yum guy, who apparently used to be in WWE developmental, is the first to challenge Kojima for the title. This'll be on February 9th in Hiroshima. That's Bryon Wilcott. He was on that short lived Texas wrestling reality show with Athena and got a FCW contract out of that. He got injured, released, and claimed to be the father of Awesome Kong's baby when she was pregnant. Wilcott wrestles mainly in Texas. I know he wrestled for Anarchy a couple of times and did an extra spot on WWE tv a couple of months ago. He does have potential to be a bigger name.

Interesting news. Though I do hope he defends it outside of his home country.

Kojima isn't the only new NWA champ. The new World Junior Heavyweight Champion is that rising young whipppersnapper Ricky Morton To be fair, Morton was doing hurricanranas before it was cool. I do wonder if Mike Jackson will get a Junior title match. Plus he can "Sell that sumb---- out".

Wilcott is a talented microphone guy and is okay in the ring but won't get anywhere as an NWA guy. He needs to branch off into a big independent if he wants that second shot.

Nice. I don't get to watch much (if any) Japanese wrestling, but Kojima stood out to me (first because he always had a pretty good moveset in wrestling video games), and when I finally DID get to see a match of his (his Lariat-fest with Kensuke Sasaki where they basically spent half the match taking turns trying to rip each others' head off with lariats in front of Stan Hansen), it was one of the more absurdly entertaining matches I'd ever seen.

I'd be more excited for that than I will for Wrestlemania.

Maybe it could be a double title match with Jackson putting up his Alabama junior heavyweight belt.

There only so many spots open in the bigger indies and a number of talented folks won't get the chance to shine. Wrestling for the NWA helps get some guys some notice with the NJPW connection. Jax Dane would never got bookings in Japan without that.
