For no reason at all, I just remembered this TV show I used to watch, but barely.
I think it aired on the WB. It was a black family. I think named Hightower? Maybe. The dad was played by a stand-up who's name I can't recall, but last name was maybe Townsend. They was the 15 year old daughter, a younger son was maybe 8 and fat and bald. I think the show ended on a cliffhanger with the dad getting shot.
I wanna say it was called Parenthood, but it was quite likely something like the Parent Hood. You know, the Hood? Parenthood seems wrong to me because that's the old movie and the TV show now with Shaggy.
Anyone recall this or is my bad description totally out to lunch?

The reason I thought of it was because when I started getting into stand-up, as a fan, I rented a tape of a few guys, Night at the Apollo kind of thing and Robert Townsend was the comic. He told a story of being heckled by a female one night, so he called her a bitch. After the show, her boyfriend came up to him and asked, "Yo, why you call my ho a bitch?"

Robert Townsend is a funny dude. He was doing Kings of Comedy revues before the so-called Original Kings were even in the business.

Man, I want to watch that show again. TVOne was showing it for a while and then it got taken off. It should be on DVD.
