If the Weather Channel can name winter storms now, so can I, dammit. This is a obviously a separate storm than Hercules(?) that came through last week, & after the storm comes record breaking cold temperatures. With that being said, I've named the snowstorm after myself (yea, I've got an ego, wanna fight about it? ), & the deep freeze after my dog (yea, he's got an ego too, wanna fight him about it? ) Anyway, I've got about 8". I also have a bunch of snow in my driveway... Normally I'd wait to run the snow blower since the neighbors are still sleeping, but I don't have a choice today. We have to be at my parents at 9:00 to start loading up for the benefit (in my sig) today. I always do both of my neighbors snow though, so I guess it's the price they pay for getting their snow cleared. What sucks is that this is the light fluffy stuff, & it's windy, meaning it'll blow right back in my face as soon as the snowblower hits it. Grrrreeeeeaaaaaattttt. I'm just hoping this doesn't scare a lot of people off, & they stay home today instead of showing up to the benefit. Well, that's enough for me now. Time to fight that old bitch Mother Nature. If I don't survive, tell the world my story FAN. You tell 'em!

Man, I don't miss Chicago this time of year. I read -40 wind chill on Monday. Instead of rats in the alley, it's gonna be penguins in people's trash cans.

Got lucky snowblowing though. There was a short break in the snow, so I got everything cleared by the time the heavy stuff started again. Ugh, can I just say how much I hate other drivers? Ok, good. Driving 20-30 MPH BELOW the speed limit is just as dangerous as speeding in this weather. I don't get it. You've lived here your whole life, yet you STILL don't know how to drive in the snow??? f*** off.

Eh, they already told us not to come in to work Monday. Made sense, can only imagine how many people already planned on just calling off.

No word yet if we're getting the day off where I work, but a lot of places around here are already cancelling things on Monday and Tuesday, and some places, namely churches, have been closing today as well. High is supposed to be -6 tomorrow, and it looks like we've got close to a foot of snow already. Wind is starting to kick up as well.

In my neck of woods every school has been called off for tomorrow along with most of the stores.

Yeah the high tomorrow is going to be 2 with a windchill of -30. Plus the wind is blowing about a foot of snow around making plowing, or shoveling pointless. Hell I can't get out of my front door right now.

I work at one of the courts in downtown Chicago, and I don't think we are closed unfortunately.

I am in southern IL and it is ridiculous...It's a small town and we cant see the roads and its so bad the trucks cant get out to clean it...I can barely open my front door...and unfortunately I have to figure out how I am going to get to work in the morning to the Hershey factory I am currently working at...

-20 with a -47 windchill. Almost the entire city will be closed, except my work training is still on. For some one else, I am not going to be leaving as I am plowed in and can't shovel due to shoulder injury. Oh, and I am not spending two hours out there to dig it out anyway.

Fort Wayne issued a state of emergency until 6pm tommorow. Looks like I am not working. Luckily I got my satellite working again for the Blackhawks game.

I'd say we've gotten around 8 inches where I am, and the blowing is just making it worse. I'd say nearly everything that can be closed tomorrow is, and the cold is just going to get worse, since we're under a wind chill warning from tomorrow morning to 1 AM Wednesday.

We got 14 inches of snow here Friday. Saturday morning it was -1, tomorrow it's supposed to be 50. So goes living in Massachusetts.
I also own a condo up in central NH. Ive been through temps -40 degrees and it's no joke, it seriously rips at your flesh, especially if its dry and clear outside. Be safe.

I'd say we're definitely up to at least 12 inches here, the wind is really getting nasty now. It's 22 degrees now, and it's only going to get colder.
Missed it earlier, but most of the Michiana region (northwest Indiana/southwest Michigan) is under some form of emergency/advisory situation. So I'm not going to be going out anytime soon.

Ok, this is seriously cold that I've never felt before. It's currently -14° with -37° wind chills. The poor dog was only out for 3-4 minutes this morning, & he was hopping back from the side of the house, switching which paw he was holding up in the air. He was in some pain after such a short time. He was fine once he warmed up, but I really felt bad for him.
I got used to the cold after a while, but if it never gets this cold here again, I'll be cool with it. Although, it's going to be even colder tonight. Awesome...

About 10pm, I went out to just shovel enough of the back patio area so the dogs don't have to plow through the snow with their bodies. The big one, I'm not too worried about; it's the little Dachshund I think about in this situation. She goes bat-crap crazy when she gets a bath or gets wet.
Just about 5 minutes of work and I was winded. Nothing but ice and slush once you get to the last 2 inches. What doesn't help is the snow blowing off of the neighbor's roof down to in front of the back door. Created a neat little formation, but it had to go.
(I remember the cold snaps of '82, '85 and '94. You're never really ready for it.)

It's -7 in the city of St. Louis and the snow is up to 10 inches, up to 14 inches in Belleville and surrounding counties. Everything that's not essential to people's safety is totally shut down. The dog doesn't even want to play out here in the snow like she normally would if it was like 20-25.
