I know companies, generally, will sell a late-generation model of their system. It's a common practice..... but this one seemed to take out so much stuff, it was almost pointless to release. Granted, most of the accessories it's incompatible with, by this point, were largely failures and nobody really had them anyway... but it just really seemed like it was a final desperate gasp from SEGA saying, "Remember when we were cool?"
.... also, just because I can't see Norm without thinking this......

Never knew that about Majesco. Gonna have to dig into my SNES collection once I get settled and see if I have any.

I actually got a Genesis 3 when my Genny 1 pretty much died.
What was the memory bug on the first two Genesis models?

I always wondered why some games had the cardboard casing for their games as most other games were in the hard plastic we all know.
I have a Genesis model 2 and it still works today. I have seen a few Genesis 3s for sell at local game stores, but I did not know some games were unplayable on it.

Don't have a Model 3, but I do own a 1 and a 2. Would like to track down a 3 for the collection

I remember seeing this thing in a Toys R Us and a few at the Swap Meet.
