It's not the fans fault that Batista was put in that position, they were going to boo whoever won that Rumble right out of the building regardless of who it was if it was anyone but Bryan. Plain and simple. That's why the usually super-over Rey Mysterio got a Conway pop for his music and the boos started immediately after and continued until, as OP mentioned, they decided to go full force behind Roman Reigns. The fans don't want Batista. They don't want Orton. They don't even want Cena at this point. Daniel Bryan is the hottest commodity that WWE has and until they capitalize on it, anyone they try to push is going to get shit on. That's not the fault of the fans and it's not our problem that Batista is a twat and doesn't get that his time has come and past.
The best thing to do in that situation, if they're not going to listen to what the fans want, is to give to a heel. #30 should've been a heel, the winner should've been a heel. It's pretty simple logic that WWE should follow, "If you don't want the fans to shit on what you give them, don't give them the exact opposite of what they want." I know I'm sounding like a broken record and a blind Bryan fan but honestly, anyone that watches the last six months of programming and can say with a straight face that Bryan is not the THE guy the fans want they're either stupid or lying and until WWE realizes that, they're going to face the same crowd issues as they have.

The fans would have been okay with anyone in The Shield, Cody/Goldust, Ziggler, Cesaro, Fandango, Punk...a number of people, really. It's just that they wanted Daniel Bryan a hell of a lot more, and they didn't want Batista at all.
