This will give WWE even more reasons to be reluctant to push anyone.
Damn though. I don't like Punk as a person but for his career, for his legacy, he deserved a better send-off.

Well, if WWE's in a panic over a lack of starpower post-Wrestlemania, they know they always have one surefire backup plan: Push Alberto del Rio! Just wait 'til the WWE Universe sees how aggressive he can be. Isn't he supposedly leaving when his contract is up? He was, but the lesson WWE will take from Punk leaving is that they can't afford to lose a star of Del Rio's caliber! They'll throw tons of money at him and a contact with a guaranteed 13 world title matches on PPV every year (he'll defend twice on at least one show)!

and they ask why Vince doesn't want to build stars. Warrior, Austin, Lesnar and Punk. all took ball and went home. Rock went to movies, Hogan went to WCW. Michaels went to early retirement. i hope it's not true though. Punk is a big part of WWE. maybe he's been half-assing for a while, but he's still a ridiculous talent. The fact that it keeps happening says more about Vince than it does about any of them Erm Lesnars an active wrestler who got too big for his boots, Austin has a fused neck and ultimately didn't have much left in the tank, Warrior is nuts and Punk is a mardy git. The only one that holds any weight in that list IS Punk and I'd hazard a guess that HHH is more to blame than Vince.

The End. So what you are saying is that in some kind of bald man pact, Justin Credible got Kane to take out Punk?

What are the chances WWE tries to work things out with Punk, if only to salvage WM?

I think Punk going away for a year would do him and his character a world of good anyway. His last year as a face has been mediocre.

Remember that thread a few months ago about stories that the IWC had blown out of proportion and made a huge deal out of? Stories that have become legends about drama backstage that likely weren't anything?
"Hey Vince, I'm hurting pretty bad, I gotta take some time off. I'm going home." "Okay."

Imo What's gonna happen is they're probably gonna go overboard trying to replace Punk and some guys might end up having their careers ruined or stagnated due to being pushed too hard and then tossed aside because they can't live up to the unrealistic expectations. A lot of guys are gonna be given the Next Big Thing or Nothing treatment (see sig).

What was beneficial to Austin walking out (I was wrong about the year, it was 2002)?? How can Austin make money if he's not even with the company and at the time, they weren't on good terms which is why Vince had arguably the greatest promo guy lay into Austin? You were correct about drawing power because they probably wouldn't give a damn if Yoshi Tatsu quit but they won't blacklist CM Punk forever if at all. Austin can, and does, make a buttload of money without WWE. But both make more when they work together. That simply isn't the same with Punk and if WWE want to hold a vendetta against him for walking out in the most unprofessional manner possible, they won't lose anything by it After all, they've done it for less than this. I believe you are underestimating Punk a little bit. He pushed more merch in 2011 than Cena and was very close to him in 2012-2013. He's obviously not Austin money but he does pretty well considering. If he stays gone, they likely quit talking about him but there's no way they would blacklist him. If they do, more power to them, I wouldn't be upset because Punk was unprofessional but McMahon likes money too much to let that go forever

So how do they explain Punk's disappearance to the audience?
Cut a scathing "took his ball and went home" promo?
Make up something about Punk taking time off to heal injuries?
Say the Authority fired him?
Do nothing and hope everyone is too caught up in YESamania to notice he's gone?

Stories that have become legends about drama backstage that likely weren't anything? "Hey Vince, I'm hurting pretty bad, I gotta take some time off. I'm going home." "Okay." I dunno, I'd have to think there's at least some sort of validity to this after they didn't mention him at all on Raw. You would think if he were just leaving for injuries, they'd have shown the clip of Kane beating him down (well, the stupid-ass stills thing they do for PPV recaps, because evidently if you see the actual motion of Kane putting him through a table it'll put you off of buying the replay) and put on their Owen Hart voices to talk about his injuries.

Say the Authority fired him? Do nothing and hope everyone is too caught up in YESamania to notice he's gone? They'll have Daniel Bryan make some oblique reference to the Authority driving away wrestlers who oppose them, in order to try to direct any fan anger into interest in the Bryan angle, without actually mentioning Punk by name, since that'd lead to fans expecting him to come back.
