Wow. I hope this got blown way out of proportion. He's my favorite guy on the roster, with no one coming close. His promos/matches/feuds were the ones I looked forward to every week, because I just didn't care about the other stuff. If he's really gone... that would be a huge blow.

Leaving in time for Wrestlemania? He's turned into Bizarro-Jericho. BTW, how does walking out work from a legal standpoint? Can WWE sue him for breach of contract, or does it say somewhere in said contact that the talent doesn't really have to show up for work if they don't feel like it? Considering that they're independant contractors, if I hired someone to fix my roof, I doubt that they can just leave halfway through without any legal consequenses. Essentially, WWE doesn't have to pay him outside of for things like merch and if he hasn't met his downside guarantee yet and he can't work elsewhere until his contract runs out, but there's nothing to stop him from leaving.

It's too bad TNA can't afford him. Just imagine the matches he would have with Samoa Joe, Kurt Angle, Austin Aries, Jeff Hardy, Abyss, and Magnus! Even if TNA could afford him, there's no chance Punk would go to TNA. Like... less than zero percent chance. And at this point, TNA being able to afford a turkey club sandwich is wishful thinking. -Hey Mike, isn't that the Chicken Sandwich? -Yeah, but what is he doing at the impact zone?

If AJ leaves anytime soon, which seems like a possibility if Punk's gone, and since her best friend Kaitlyn also left WWE I don't see that happening. She's still in the early part of her WWE career and has accomplished too much to just walk away over a man. On-topic: It's no real a shocker of him leaving based on that recent MMA site interview that he wasn't happy and burned out.

On the other hand, we've been worked by Punk before.

Well, if he wants to main event a Wrestlemania, I can see why he would leave. It looks like the only way he's ever going to achieve that goal is if he leaves for a year or two and is brought back on a part time schedule, older, balder and on twice his previous wage because that's how the WWE works these days.

I think it's a smart move. WWE can't really afford to dump Punk at the moment. If he's not that big a star, that doesn't really matter because he's a much bigger star than most of their current roster.
What I suspect is this will call WWE to their senses. Is a Punk/Kane feud at this stage really going to be a big deal? No. Is it going to get people interested? No. If this gets Vince McMahon to see sense and stop treading water then it will be good for WWE.

On one hand, never good to see such a talented wrestler just go like that.
On the other hand, glad to see that he'll be off my TV for a while. He's been phoning it in since the WWE title reign.

Good for him. Anyone who thinks he's the bad guy in this situation clearly has less self respect than he has. I personally quit my last job on the spot upon finding out they had hired the niece of one of the corporate assclowns into a promotion I'd been busting my ass for. Pretty much the Rock/Batista stuff that's happened to him. If your job screws you over and over, and you can afford to quit, good on you. I wish more people in WWE would tell them to f*** off. Stop making excuses for the corporate dickbags running the company.

Well, at least Daniel Bryan will likely get his Wrestlemania spot against Triple H, which is much better than the rumored Sheamus match.

SMH, Punk is one of major reasons I even watch Raw. Upon finding out that Punk wasn't on Raw this week, it took me about 25 minutes to watch the opening segment, Ziggler's match and Divas match.

He's someone who has a history of throwing a fit when something doesn't meet his liking. I wonder how the reaction would be if Cena opted to walk away after hearing of his Wyatt match at WM. The man has had a really, really wonderful two years. And wasn't too shabby before then. Good on him for principals and all but I just feel for fans that, if this is end, won't get to see him with the final angle his career warrants. I don't care, really, how this affects WM. It's more long-term for me.

Depending on his reasons for leaving, Vince should just can him (Unless of course it's health or severe personal problems). But it sounds like he's throwing a bitch because of the way he's been booked.
Punk always seems to come across as a self-entitled cock. If he's walked out because he's not happy with the booking of him or whatever, can him. He should be pleased that he's got a job wrestling for the biggest wrestling company in the world at all and not throwing his toys out of the pram if things don't go his way.
If he's bitching because he's not getting another title run or doesn't think he's been booked correctly or is upset because he's not in the 'Mania main event then f*** him. There are plenty of EXTREMELY talented wrestlers who had much worse careers than Punk has had but haven't bitched about it.

It's more long-term for me. But the last point wasn't seemingly improving at all, I mean facing a suited Kane after being in a no story feud with The Shield, after being in a nothing feud with Paul Heyman and Curtis ruddy Axel... If the worry is his last possible feud might be not great...well to be honest that didn't seem to be leading anywhere. I don't believe that he'd be having a mega feud with Triple H, nor do I feel he'd be playing anything but fifth wheel behind every more important (in fans AND in the companies view) wrestler. Be it John Cena, Batista, Brock Lesnar, Randy Orton, even Daniel Bryan. CM Punk's been an afterthought since losing to 'Taker and it's shown in both his ring work and effort in promos.

CM Punk Reportedly Takes A STAND And Goes Home
That sounds more like it. If they won't listen to the fans, maybe it'll take a high profile star to get the point across.
