It's getting a lot of media buzz, but for all the wrong reasons. Sadly, I'm not sure if that fact matters to Vince and Co. at all.

I believe TMZ. They said Michael Jackson was dead, and it turned out, he was. They also killed off Lil Wayne twice last year. So there's a chance Michael Jackson is still alive?

I don't think anyone saying he shouldn't have quit. He just took the worst possible way to do it. Not even close to being the worst way possible. He had a face-to-face with the owner, aired his grievances (whatever they may be, and fact is, we do not know yet) and left. Worst possible way? Going into business for himself and walking mid-show, on-air. Or just not showing up one day and making zero contact. Or letting them know via rage-filled, profanity-laced twitter rant. Or numerous other ways. People want to compare this to Austin walking out but Austin just said f*** it and didn't show up without talking anyone. Punk clearly let his boss know that he was done. If that's not a good way to quit, I don't know what is.

This seems crazy similar to the Austin situation. He's beat up and sick of it all. I would wager that morale in the locker room is pretty darn low as of late, with the awful fan reception to the Rumble and the poor creative direction. It sucks to go to work when the environment is bad and everyone is complaining. That's factored into me leaving a good job before, and I didn't have millions of dollars at home to fall back on either. Add on the physical nature of his job and the shape his body was in, just seems like it got to a breaking point.
I hope he can find happiness outside of the wrestling business. He really did spark some change in WWE, but probably not as much as he hoped. I think he did manage to empower fans though, and his success got WWE to look at a lot of independent standouts as potential money-makers rather than soulless workrate drones. I'll always remember him fondly, he's been a consistent highlight of WWE for almost 8 years now.
WWE's in a tough spot on how to write him out. The whole "he took his ball and went home" thing they pulled with Austin would NOT fly these days. If they make it like "The Authority fired him!", fans would chant his name in every arena expecting him to come back.
As far as WWE...is Rome starting to burn here? A lot of shit is going wrong at a really inopportune time.

So pretty much these were our two options after the Royal Rumble:
A. Piss off the people who complained about Daniel Bryan's booking and risk fans hijacking more shows
B. CM Punk walks out of the company
Tough call

WWE will be fine. They'll just move someone else into that forgettable mid-card match at Mania vs Kane they had pencilled him in for.

And to think, all this could've been avoided if they didn't screw up Bryan's booking.

I missed about 30 pages while I slept but I was under the impression he just up and left. If he went to management first and spoke with them, I would definitely change my stance on him leaving. IMO, to compare it to a regular job, just leaving is like a no call/ no show and speaking with management is more like a notice.

Could Punk go to TNA? Would be a massive coup for them and would be a big FU to the WWE, lots of new talent to work with and perhaps he could be the guy to help them take it up another level.
