Yes. It's time for the monthly "I wonder if I'm getting old" thread.
With streaming media, playlists and ability to buy only the good song on iTunes getting more popular I'm wondering if people here consume their music in "albums"(physical or not) or whether everything is in randomized playlists of maybe you crazy kids even use those services which feed songs solely based on other songs you have liked.

I very rarely buy singles.
Most of my purchase are entire albums (usual from BandCamp or AmazonMp3).
If people can't put together at least an EP worth of good stuff then they're probably not worth my time.
I used to put Pandora or something on when I was doing stuff around the apartment, but now I just flip on netflix and play an old movie just to have it on in the background.

Oh. It seems I need to clarify. I mean "albums" as a concept. So when you log into Spotify do you start listening to an album or a playlist.

I do playlists by default, as if I have all this music at my disposal... I end up getting bored of one album after a few songs.
When a new album comes out, though.. I'll listen straight through, and sometimes I'll get a craving for an entire album. But, more often than not, I just go right to my playlists.

Album, always an album. I find listening to randomised songs to be completely unappealing, to me it's like loading up a bunch of movies and watching scenes from all of those movies in a randomized order, it sounds ridiculous to most of you but that's just me.

I only use Spotify now, but I still mostly listen to full albums rather than playlists.

Full Albums all the way.
Many a time I have purchased an Album for one specific song and ended up falling in love with 2 other songs instead.

Nah, sure there's a big investment in mini-albums and EPs these days, as well as the inevitable easy to push out one song at a time function but I've found that most people who listen to music for 3 hours or more a day tend to be album consumers.
I am too of course, always good to consume new records in full before deciding if it's good/bad/average.

I normally listen to an entire album a couple times. After that, I'll listen to individual songs if I don't feel it detracts from the album as a whole. Example - I don't like to listen to songs from The Ocean's last three albums individually. They're all concept albums, so I feel it takes away from the experience.

I'll download albums, listen to them all the way through two or three times and then they usually go into the library where I end up shuffling stuff. There are a few albums I listen to without shuffling (mainly the Stone Sour HOGAB series since they are set up like a story or FFDP's Wrong Side of...set).

There are certain albums that I can ONLY listen to in album form like Frances the Mute or Dilla's Donuts just to name a couple but I'm not an album-only guy, especially if there are only one or two songs I really like on the album. Like how Dramamine from Modest Mouse's first album is the only song that I really like on there so I'll just listen to that and skip most of the rest.

Yes. If I like a song, I'm going to get the entire album that song is on.
