Good for Kevin.
I've been a Harvick fan for years- loved that Goodwrench #29 back in the day. Considering the shoes he had to fill, he's handled himself so well all these years.

Seeing people STILL complaining how Indycar is a waste of space since there's only X number of Americans and the field and how dare Honda supply more engines than Chevy and how since they can't get REAL sponsors like Valvoline and Miller anymore it's not worth it and should be put out of its misery just makes me want to stop watching everything. So somehow the complainers are winning. Like always.

Honestly the only way Indycar is going to move forward is to basically give the finger to all the middle-aged old generation of Indycar fans because short of making things EXACTLY like they were in 1995/1982/1975 you're never going to make them happy, and no amount of giving them reasons of why such-and-such isn't feasible anymore or why a shade tree mechanic can't hope to compete with the likes of Penske and Ganassi at Indy will change their minds.
Indy needs to ignore the old generation, blaze forward, and find their own niche, which I think they're on the verge of doing to be honest. Car counts aren't the end-all be-all and I still can't understand the fans who would rather have one car dominating the race with the next car five laps down and 3/4 of the field DNFing due to engine failures. The most annoying though are those who would rather see a regression in safety because "the risk is part of the reward" at the same time they were ready to storm 16th and Georgetown with torches and pitchforks after Las Vegas.
I think of all major motorsport series anymore Indycar has by far the most insufferable fanbase, which is a complete shame.

At the same time I get it. A lot of Indycar driver types are people a little bit bitter that they're not in F1. They hate oval tracks and wish the serious were entirely road and street courses.
Take the "uncultured xenophobic old men" political BS out of it, and it really does come off more as just F1's bargain bin retard cousin if it becomes 100% road/street courses.
Even if it makes the "new generation" fans feel more cultured because finally the "dumbed down, too 'Murican" oval tracks are gone.

Drivers in the Chase: Junior Harvick (x2) Keselowski Edwards Kyle Busch Kurt Busch Logano Up Next: Richmond (2 weeks) So, according to what I've read, with 2 wins, Harvick is automatically in even if he drops out of the top 30 in points. Is this true?

I think RHR or Will take the race, but I'd really like JPM to do well, like a top 5 maybe.

RHR or Hinch for the win, top-five for Hawksworth, Power is definitely moving up by the end of the race, and Montoya will do better than he did in St. Pete.

I want to see Hinch take it, if only since that's the closest we'll get to seeing a Players Forsythe car on the podium again. Curious to see how Hawksworth does, especially when everyone was writing him off as a ride-buyer before the year started.

NASCAR cars 10 years later- Kevin Harvick and Jeff Gordon, then and now: Nowadays, it's hard to tell which car is which- the colors and design make it impossible. It used to be so easy to identify who was who- (bleep) this car of tomorrow! To me, it wasn't the Chase that changed how I felt about NASCAR- it was the Car of Tomorrow ruining how I could identify driver and car.

Big crash at Long Beach with 23 to go takes out the leaders including Hunter-Reay, Hinchcliffe, Newgarden, Kanaan, Hawkesworth, and Sato.
Scott Dixon is leader after pit stops.
Caution with 13 to go with Rahal spinning out in the hairpin. Dixon still leading.

Mike Conway wins the Grand Prix of Long Beach after Scott Dixon is forced to pit for fuel with 2 laps to go.
Think that's the 1st street/road course victory for Ed Carpenter Racing, not sure.

Second victory overall in its three years of existence. First was Fontana in 2012. Good to see Ed Carpenter succeed by doing things...the CON-way. Conway's second victory at Long Beach which should just further cement his status as a road/street course ace. Carpenter showed some skill at managing a race too, letting Conway run without changing the nose out from earlier damage and then at the end with Conway not doing anything too risky with Dixon running out of fuel and tires. Dixon needed just a lap or two more under caution but they kept it clean for those last dozen laps. I was half right on my predictions at least. Power and Montoya both ended up with good finishes. Oddly enough the other half got ruined in the #NewgardenAll crash. RHR and Hinch were about to fly past Newgarden and likely end up 1-2, and Hawksworth was hanging back in 6th. On first seeing it I thought Newgarden screwed it up, but looking at the replays it seems that RHR was way too ambitious for that part of the track. Andretti still gets a good result with Muñoz in 3rd but they threw away a 1-2 finish. Power retains his championship lead but Mike Conway is now 2nd, ahead of Pagenaud, Castroneves, and Hunter-Reay. Muñoz leads the rookies in 7th.
