Did not see a stickied WWE Network thread so hoping it's okay to start a thread on this.
Is there any reason given as to why the Network won't be available to Canada right away?
Also - is there a way to see the Network using a US VPN provider (legal as far as I know) to have access similar to how people do the same for US Netflix, Hulu, etc.?
Obviously I'm excited about the Network and was just curious if there's a legal way to be able to access it next Monday or not?

I doubt it'll be possible though.

I'm guessing existing TV rights. Yup. Their deal with The Score, which expires at the end of the year.

The Score shows RAW, SD, Vintage and NXT. Raw and SD won't be shown on the Network as far as I know, so people would still watch the Score Monday and Friday nights. Really don't like the idea of waiting until November (iirc, that's when it will be available here)

All I can see online is that they signed a "multi-year" deal in 2011. And that was in March, so I still don't know why it would expire end of this year instead of, like, next month.

Everyone else will get it once they've ironed out the inevitable creases and glitches. Do you think they're just opening up their whole library from the go on monday? You won't miss anything.

In the UK, we just had a new deal signed with Sky getting RAW, SmackDown, Main Event, NXT and all the PPVs on Sky Sports Box Office. There was something that said Sky had the Network in mind, so I'm guessing our version will not include live PPVs, but the PPVs on demand will be there.

I'm down with that I really only want the network for old PPVs, I an get current PPVs at the mo through.......alternate means.

probably the same kind of chicanery that keeps Canadian Netflix from being as good as American Netflix. Rogers, Easlink and Bell basically have a stranglehold on cable here and block anything American that might give them competition. Rogers owns The Score, which is the network WWE airs on here and they`probably have an issue with people using another method to watch "their" programming. it's done under the guise of protecting Canadians' jobs, but it's mostly just BS.

If I don't order the network does that mean I wont be able to watch RAW anymore?

Apparently it has to do with current exclusive broadcasting rights to NXT, and all replays of RAW & SD. And it was WWE at the presser that claimed the Canadian market would not be operational until year-end. I have no idea why. Maybe they've already came to an arrangement with Score as far as continuing their relationship, and agreed to those terms. I've heard nothing about TV rights fees in Canada, or any potential outside interest, outside of them.

I don't know what this "The Score" you people are all talking about, WWE in Canada is clearly on Sportsnet 360. I have no record of a "The Score" ever existing.
(joke post in case ya'll miss it)

(joke post in case ya'll miss it) I still miss the days when it was on TSN at midnight and then a replay Tuesday at 4pm-6pm, and then an Off the Record with a WWF guy right after quite often.

I hated Raw on TSN. The show would be postponed every other month for some stupid game I didn't care about and they would censor men hitting women by cutting to shots of the crowd or an early commercial. Score may have had a 15 minute delay but at least they actually treat the wrestling shows with respect.

I like that they call it World Wresting Federation at one point and don't know that Renee already works for WWE.
