Paused to throw a pizza in the oven, so it better be all good when I get back! Count me in the group that will cancel on Sunday if they don't get this shit figured out & running smoothly by then. I'll report back in a few if I'm still having buffering issues.
Does anybody know if Xbox fixed their login problems?
Don't know about anyone else, but I've been able to get in.
Performance wise its fine, though I have a pretty good internet connection so I don't know how much of a role that plays. The Live stream has absolutely no hiccups that I've seen, and the OnDemand content is kinda choppy at the beginning but runs smoothly after the first 20 minutes or so. It's buffered a couple times but not for longer than a second or two.
However, theres no search function that I can find at all, theres no way to find and WCW or ECW PPV's, and for some reason you can't find older Wrestlemanias. When you go into a PPV it shows you the most recent and theres a "select year" thing next to it, and for some reason the one under Wrestlemania doesn't work. The app itself is also slow as hell to actually load up.
EDIT: also now that I think about it, the sound quality is really bad. I had to crank up the volume on my tv to be able to hear anything.
Did you do anything special to get logged in or just get lucky?
BTW, this is happening on my laptop. Haven't tried the PS3 today cuz it was shit yesterday. Does the platform currently make a difference, or is it all the same?
Appears to be the latter, at least for me. I tried at 6:30 to watch SuperBrawl 3 on my PS3 and it froze almost immediately. Tried WrestleMania 9, same result.
Tried both shows on my laptop and neither play at all.
Someone mentioned this in the original Network thread but it bears repeating: WWE absolutely MUST extend the free trial if they hope to save face with this.
Agreed with the extension, this is ridiculous.
After my last post it stopped to buffer three more times. The last time, I went out for a smoke & came back in 5-6 minutes later & the screen was still frozen the same damn spot. Said f*** it, & closed the window. I'm done trying tonight. f*** this.
I get that, but how is it that you get the damn live feed to work almost flawlessly but you can't get the VOD to work?
From what I read it is different servers
Person on the F4W board had this as a example
Totally different servers. Think of the live stream like a river...if you want to access it, you just stick the mouth of a pipe in it and divert the water to you. The data is always flowing, and it takes a lot of accessing to have any real effect on how it looks or behaves.
The VOD servers are more like a warehouse where thousands of requests are coming in at all times for files stored all over the network. The servers have to find the file, retrieve it, pass it through any number of pieces of networking hardware, and then has to provide a dedicated stream directly to your IP address. It's still getting water...you're just asking your personal assistant to drive a golf cart halfway across town to a particular store to buy a particular brand.
