I was thinking about this yesterday while watching and seeing all the ads they'll play for the network itself between shows, to hype other stuff playing on the network. What would the reaction of you guys be if they started showing actual commercials on the network? The reason I thought about that was them running ads on the network could be a way to supplement the pay of the talent that are missing out on PPV paydays. If I knew that that is where the ad money would be going, I'd be more than happy to watch a couple commercials every so often.

I'd prefer commercials if I could get the Network for an extended period (yearly) for a reduced price. That'd be a fair as hell trade off.

If it keeps the price low it wouldn't bother me. Don't get me wrong, I don't want it littered with commercial like your average TV network but say one before the start and one in the middle wouldn't bug me too much.

You know how in the days of Saturday-morning cartoons, commercial breaks were preceded by "we'll be right back after these messages"? If the Network carried outside advertising, WWE should have a still image of the Network logo and that classic Lord Alfred message:
"Promotional consideration paid for by the following:"

It's an inevitability. Once they get a couple of million of subscribers, the majority of them men, the majority under 45, there's no way they'll be able to resist the revenue sponsors would be throwing at them.

During the old RAW shows they've been showing the commercials that have Wrestlers in them, like Slim Jim and ICOPRO

No ads unless WWE/wrestling related.

Haha love that the requirement needs to be wrestling related.
Guys, if WWE has a network of millions of young subscribers, of course they'll want to monetize that by having non-wrestling brands advertise on their platform. They'd be stupid not to. If you ran WWE Network, you would do the same damn thing (you know, assuming you had a desire to generate tens of millions of dollars in extra revenue).
I don't imagine they will be excessive but enough that companies can benefit from the exposure.

They already do have wrestling related commercials ... The point is why not show a commercial or two after they show a 50 minute program in that ten minutes where they're just showing random videos. That extra revenue can be given to the wrestlers that are losing out on money from the lack of PPV buys.

I'm sure they plan on adding commercials to the live stream. The only reason I think there isn't any yet is because they are waiting on an estimate of how many people will keep it afterthe free trial.
II'm hoping they consider not putting ads on the vod stuff though. One before every video would be okay but anything more than that would be obnoxious.
BTW I highly doubt ad money will go to wrestlers. I have a feeling that wwe will have enough problems when they potentially get sued by retired wrestlers for residuals.

There's no doubt in my mind WWE is trying to sell ads on the WWE Network. This is inevitable.

How much money could they really get though? Advertisers aren't all that high on pro wrestling, regardless of the ratings.

I'd imagine Sony, Microsoft and various games makers will be first, second and third in-line with the dosh.
