Notice these? I know sometimes for Hogan's Hendrix theme it's replaced with his classic Real American theme, but sometimes his Hendrix theme is dubbed with his awesome guitar instrumental. Anyone know what it's called or what I'm talking about? Anyone know other dubbed themes? Go for it in the comments.

Last I checked "Man They Call Sting" is dubbed over. Maybe that'll change sometime, but we'll see.
Then there's ECW...

Misfits In Action and Ernest "The Cat" Miller had their themes changed. Which is a shame, because I loved Miller's "I'm The Greatest!" theme.
ECW themes are just massively changed. RVD in particular, who used "Walk" by Pantera (unless they used different versions for PPV?).

I saw someone on twitter mention that Jericho's WCW theme was dubbed over with "Break The Walls Down" on a PPV.

Funny thing on the 1st WCCW ep. from 1983...they have a segment with the Freebirds and they dub over "Free Bird" with a soundalike instrumental...but if you listen carefully, you can hear some of the original song. Off-topic, but from that same episode is a six-man battle royal with Andre the Giant and others, and it's hilarious how Andre is left alone with Terry Gordy, Bill Irwin, and King Kong Bundy, and Andre will beat up the other two heels only to keep going back to choking out Gordy. Rinse and repeat a couple of times. I even voiced Andre's thoughts saying, "He looks like a Cabbage Patch Kid, I'm gonna hug him and squeeze him and call him George!"

And was the Hogan guitar riff = the NWO theme?

As I posted in one of the other threads, because the sound on older shows is mono or stereo it is impossible to fully extract a specific element from an audio track without it affecting the rest of the sound as well, which is why they usually have to re-dub the ring announcer and occasionally the commentary (if it wasn't originally recorded onto a separate track) as well as beefing up the crowd noises that tend to get wiped out as well. On these older shows they'll never achieve full removal of themes because of the inherent inflexibleness of the source material.
