It's absolutely hideous, but I'm betting it's designed to function as a network "bug" for when it's playing on WWE Network, where it'll be on screen the entire time. Seems to me like that's the only reason the typically banner styled logo would be reduced to something square shaped.
Imagine we'll find out if other logos get similar treatments.
