Why did he wear it? it looks corny as hell, did they honestly expect anyone to believe it was his actual muscles? if not did they ever acknowledge it was a suit on air?

Probably because he had almost no muscle tone to speak of, which, of course, was of the utmost importance in the WWF.

Yeah, he had no muscle tone. Watch his stretcher match with Sid. Sid dwarfs him.

I was less put off by the faux muscles, and more by the giant airbrushed bush on the second version of his suit.

They spent so much time on doing the first fur outfit, only to go with the second outfit which saw the airbrushed fur. As crazy as the first outfit looked, the second was so much sillier.
As someone who watched WCW, I wonder why I still thought wrestling was real after seeing El Gigante suddenly look like someone who is supposed to be of the animal persuasion.

Little-known fact: The muscles were always airbrushed, but that was his real body hair poking through the first suit.

I always assumed it was just to make him look like some sort of primal monster.

I once had a tshirt with Warrior's torso printed on the front, so it looked like I had his muscles. I was like 6, so it's slightly better than his suit, because he was a grown-ass man. I still don't have muscles, but at least I ditched the Tshirt made to look like I did......but I'd wear it if I had it too.

I recently saw a clip of one of his final appearances (maybe his last) where he comes out wearing regular clothes. If I recall, he wore jeans, a t-shirt, and a dark jacket. He came out to stop Harvey Wippleman and Adam Bomb from beating up a jobber.

At least they didn't paint on genetalia. But it made him look like a naked, sexless freak

Before this thread, I never realized he had two different outfits during his run. Anyone got a side-by-side shot of them for comparison?

The second picture reminds me of when Big Show unmasked bald CM Punk.

Its weird how different his 2 action looked and neither replicated his bodysuit accurately. I guess the Jakks one is not too bad, but they didn't add the leg muscles.

Instead of bringing him in as a fearsome heel (which he never really could be), he should have been introduced as a gentle giant who helps people when in need and only wants to be people's friends, but when provoked, he'll headbutt evildoers into oblivion.
