Great subscriber numbers.

I think that the only way they wouldn't have taken a hit was if they would go over 1 million subs. That won't happen yet (or at least until the international subscribers are allowed in at the end of the year).

Great subscriber numbers. Not really I think they wanted 1 million on the back of Wrestlemania. Unless there is a time period that the numbers come before Wrestlemania.

Over half a million subscribers in the first month and that's considered bad?

But that would be insanely unrealistic, and they indicated as much when they debuted this. I'd think they would be thrilled to already be as close as they are to their goal in just the few weeks this thing has been out.

Wow curiously close to domestic WM buys last year, (662k), it'll be interesting to see how WM buys do.

Basically, the theory was "our network is so great, we're gonna get all of the usual US Wrestlemania buys converted into subscriptions, and much more, cos we're gonna push the Network so hard we're gonna get at least 200000-300000 more subscribers among people who didn't want to pay 60$ for a single PPV", but they ended up roughly with a number of subscriptions = the usual number of US buys, including a whole bunch of foreign buyers via proxy & people who won't renew. It isn't necessarily a bad result, but I could see the stock owners disappointed if they were promised that the Network would near the break-even point around Mania.

Lets be honest, how many people were holding out to see the ultimate test of the system to get it? I could honestly see at least a 100,000+ growth of hold outs. Not huge leap but there had to be a decent number that wanted the system to be proven before committing 6 months.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a healthy domestic buy number from people waiting to see how it went.

Also add in the timing, they did it the day after their biggest show of the year. Why didn't they release numbers pre and post-Wrestlemania? I wanted to see the jump, if any.

I'm getting the sense that these sites aren't even taking into account the possibility that their subscribers won't be 660K by August/September. If the entire thing was done on a month to month basis, you'd probably would have had a lot of cancellations today.

Looks like a good number, but I don't see how it will grow considerably after Wrestlemania.

Yeah, this is bad news. I look at it like this. Sure, you'll probably have about 660k subscribers for the next 5-6 months, but how many will rollover beyond the six months? I figure the number will plummet by autumn and pop back up by the start of the new year.
The PPVs are a terrific incentive, but I believe the video library will lose its appeal for most people once the novelty wears out after awhile.

But lets also add something, if they are using the Same billing as MLB.TV then it is auto renewal. There are alot of lazy people who will forget to unsubscribe come August and get auto rolled over another 6 months.

That's possible I'm sure. The option is that the billing is automatic, so you have to un-click the box regarding if you want to continue beyond six months if I recall (which I did immediately even before I put in my CC info).

They'll have a stacked PPV in the fall to keep those people from cancelling.

In fact, right in the middle of the pre-show tag match.
