Okay, all the news/NEWZ/baseless speculation about Evolution w/Kane vs. Daniel Bryan and The Shield in a WarGames match got me wanting to watch one. And with that WWE Network, this is easy!
...but then I look at Wikipedia and The Network, and realize that all the ones with the good line-ups of The Four Horsemen (IE, automatically good) were all non-televised events. So I'm left with a big old list of matches that...frankly have some odd line-ups.
Anybody got any suggestions on a good instance of the WarGames match?

Wrestle war 92 is the best one. Stingers Squadron vs Dangerous Alliance. Total bloodbath with a creative finish

I'm fond of Team WCW vs. Team nWo from Fall Brawl 96, even in spite of the Double Sting non-sense.

Well you ought to get your hands on Great American Bash 1987 home video release, it has the first war games which IMO blows away any other war games.

What are your thoughts on that one

Was watching the BluRay and I liked 91 the best because of Pillman's performance.

1992's is arguably one of WCW's best ever matches. Also a fan of 1991 for Pillman and Sid killing him two different ways.

Yeah, I'd say 1991, 1992, and 1996 are probably the best.

1992 was an awesome match. It was a bloodbath with a lot of creativity involved. If you haven't seen it, you have to.

Came in to say 92, but that's been covered.

You should definitely avoid 1992. It's horrible and stupid and ..... bah, who am I kidding? It's the best one.

Finally got around to watching WrestleWar '92 like everyone wouldn't shut up about suggested.
It was pretty awesome. Not sure what the hell Steve Austin was trying to do hanging from the top, though.

I just watched 1991 yesterday and I have to say there are a few things that annoy me about the match that knock it below 1992:
--Pillman was brilliant in it but the strategy made ZERO possible sense. You are Sting. You have a guy on your team who was clearly injured going in with a heavily taped up shoulder (they even show us the footage of the Horsemen crushing Pillman)...and you put him in there first! Pillman should have been saved for the very last so that he had the least time in the cage to get maimed.
--Sid. Oh lord. Sid was hilariously lost in the ring and calling spots left and right in this match. At one point he gawks at Rick Steiner before noticeably nodding something about the next spot. Another time he and Rick are in the corner and the camera is too close and you hear "I'll whip you into the other corner..ready?" "Okay, do it!" Stuff like that. And during the Figure 4 stereo spot, Sid jumped the gun and did it early and the camera clearly catches him yelling about the spot.
The 1987 and 88 matches are also very good but I can't really remember anything to separate them. The 1992 match had a different faction in it with the Dangerous Alliance.

The actual storyline of the match was that Pillman jumped into the match first before anyone could stop him. As everyone has said before, '86, '87, '91, '92, and '96 are the best ones. In my opinion, '89 was just ok, as was '93. On paper, the 1995 War Games is the biggest mismatch in War Games history. Did ANYONE think the Dungeon of Doom have a chance of winning? If it was anyone else except Zodiac and Shark that teamed with Kamala and Meng then it wouldn't have seemed so terrible.

I saw a clipped version of War Games from Wrestle War '92 on the Deadly Venom: The Best of Sting VHS from way back when. I should see the match in its entirety at some point seeing as I subscribe to the Network (plus it has a Steiners vs two guys from New Japan and Brian Pillman defending the Light-Heavyweight Title against Tom Zenk that I remember piqued my interest). This War Games is the first time I ever heard about the match, and I remember getting a copy of WCW Magazine in my Easter basket that year had great coverage for the match and really sold it well. One thing I loved is they had all these colored coded lines connecting different participants in the match by whatever issues they had going into the match (i.e. personal grudges, championship jealousy, even intra-team issues). Okay, all the news/NEWZ/baseless speculation about Evolution w/Kane vs. Daniel Bryan and The Shield in a WarGames match got me wanting to watch one. That Raw the night after Mania really had me jonesing for exactly this match. But now that D-Bry is defending against Kane at Extreme Rules, I'll take a six man war games even if it's only in one ring. Just as long as we got a steel cage (which they already have at the PPV with Cena vs Wyatt) and the staggard entry format and you can only win by submission, then I'm cool
