While WWF Heenan was miles better than his WCW run, my favorite Bobby (and commentary as a whole) moment is thisI came into this thread specifically to post that video.

I always figured the reason he would bail out so fast whenever the nWo would "visit" the announce booth was because they always seemed like they didn't really give a crap about the safety of the commentators or the equipment when they got there (I think I remember them shoving Tony hard a few times when he didn't get away in time). Judging by his reaction to Pillman putting his hands on him and his clause that he couldn't be touched by the talent because of his back and neck problems, he didn't want to be around when a bunch of careless guys got near him. Especially ones as strongly protected as Nash or Hall. One freakout on either of them and he could've been out the door.

I remember one time he was defending the nwo or he did something on a ppv that made him sound pro nwo, i recall the following night on nitro Schiavone called him out, Heenan replied with something like " i like the nwo, its hogan i dont like"
I loved the continuity when it came to his dislike of Hogan.

Another big reason Bobby jumped to WCW was health insurance. As a Turner employee, he received some pretty damn good insurance, which enabled to finally get his neck fixed about 10 years after it was injured.

He may not have been as motivated, and the nWo angle sort of killed his ability to be a heel, but his commentary during the undercard matches was still gold in WCW. The way he'd rag on the lucha guys and jobbers was still hilarious.

Heenan hi self basically said all of the above in his first book. After his first year in WCW his motivation was completely gone-he just felt out of place and I spore sited because he was kept out of the loop on everything. He also couldn't work opposite Schiavone the way he he had with Monsoon. And when the NWO took it off it put him in an awkward spot because he was still trying to be The Weasel and cheer for the bad guys-except the bad guy was the man he had feuded with for over a decade.
Probably the lowest point was after Monsoon passed. The story is goes that Heenan pursuaded WCW to let him pay tribute to his longtime friend and partner over Schiavone's protests; Schiavone didn't want it even mentioned because Monsoon had never worked in WCW. During the Nitro where Hernan said goodbye to Monsoon, he was seriously upset about it. At one point he told Schiavone "I can't hear you all the way down here!" and I think he even broke down and cried on the air.

Schiavone denies objecting to the Gorilla tribute (the story doesn't really make sense since WCW also mentioned and acknowledged Owen's death). Remember Tony and Gorilla did work together during his one year away from WCW. Was Bischoff still in charge? If anything, I would bet he would be the guy that put up the objection and put Tony in the position of being the guy to play the asshole to the Brain.

I suddenly remember Heenan in a neckbrace on WCW TV. Rather early on..... .....and typically, he was blaming Hogan for it.
