People will complain that Donald is black and thus "not true to the comics". Why is that a bad thing? Changing the ethnicity of an established character is a lazy way of appealing to an ethnic group and is more than a little insulting to multiple ethnicities. Make original awesome characters, don't just say "Nightwing is black now." For me it's about why you are casting. If you are just doing it to be PC then no, which is why I didn't like random black actor being hired to play Johnny Storm(granted that whole cast seems pretty random). But I had no problem with Duncan as Kingpin or Berry as Catwoman, if you have a great person for the part that happens to be black that's fine.

We wouldn't have this diversity problem if you guys all went out and bought Meteor Man! Or Blank Man! Or Steel (you can get it on Amazon)! Or Spawn! Or, uh...the Halle Berry Catwoman movie! I'm just goofing off, don't take anything I say seriously. Donald Glover would make a great rebooted Blankman.

He's hardly a random black guy. Him being cast as Human Torch is no more PC than Michael Clark Duncan being cast as Kingpin. Both are worthy of the parts because of the talent alone.

Taco Tim is very pleased to see the return of Pizza Pat. Baba Ghanoush Barry thinks you're both crazy. Taco Tim would like to party with Baba Ghanoush Barry. Pizza Pat is invited too. If Lasagna Lars and Fajita Frankie are available they can come too.

My only guess would be that for many casting people, they got to know him as Troy, only to feel shocked to see his stand up & listen to his music. Basically, that he was acting.

I love Childish Gambino, so as long as that side continues, I'm all good

He's hardly a random black guy. Him being cast as Human Torch is no more PC than Michael Clark Duncan being cast as Kingpin. Both are worthy of the parts because of the talent alone. I've seen Jordan's work, he didn't stand-out and wouldn't say he was obscenely talented. He's alright but I don't see him and say "wow, he'd make a good Johnny Storm". Think plenty could do the job as good or better. I'm not psychic, and like I sad the casting of that flick in general doesn't make sense to me. Maybe they do just love Jordan just much over anyone other actor. Personally I don't see it like I did Duncan. As far as Donald Glover being Spiderman goes I've only ever seen a couple episodes of Community and don't listen to much hip-hop. Haven't seen nearly enough of the guy to form an opinion. I think the current guy was a solid hire. Really liked him in The Social Network and don't see the "he's too pretty" deal some go on about.
