Unocal76 is ranting again, football season must be upon us. And, as per usual, not a speck of said rantings make any damn sense. Glad I'm not the only one who feels this way.

I'm so sick of this schedule crap. Last year, you didn't hear ANYONE bat an eye when the Seahawks play the garbage AFC South. Somehow, it's not OK for offenses like Denver to pile up points against Washington or Philly, but it's OK when Seattle beats up on the Jacksonvilles and Tennessees of the world. Do we just have a double-standard when it comes to offense? Sure, the Seahawks played the Jags and Titans, but can you really doubt a team that crushed the 49ers, Panthers, and Seahawks? Did the Broncos beat ANYONE of that caliber in the regular season? They swept a Chiefs team whose defense unraveled down the stretch, beat a Chargers team that fell ass-backwards into the postseason despite winning a playoff game, and beat an Eagles team with a different QB than they had for the entire last half of the season. Oh yeah. Denver also had to play that garbage AFC South last season.

Playing a weak-schedule is lose-lose. You get no credit for winning, all the blame for losing. It seems like beating. 500 or better teams is the only way you get any credit. You get credit for beating... good teams? STOP THE PRESSSES, WE HAVE THE DISCOVERY OF A LIFETIME HERE! I'm a Chief's fan, they were a paper tiger last year, plain and simple. They had a chance to prove they were more with Indy and they choked. That's not the way it seems, that's the way it is. That's how you prove that you belong, not by beating shit, but by beating good teams. If you go through the playoffs and win, then guess what, champ? You've probably beaten some damn good teams. But if you coast through the regular season because luck gave you an easy path, then you still have something to prove come play. Your faux-outrage is really ridiculous.

Patriots owner Robert Kraft believes the NFL should "work very hard" to have a team in London before the end of the decade.

Rams? Please. No offense, bad secondary. Live or die by the sack. One-trick ponies of the highest order. Arizona? Take Carson Palmer. Please. San Francisco? I'll give you that. Essentially they and Seattle rule the NFL world right now. Everyone else is playing for third. Yes, that includes the rest of the NFC. Sorry, but I think the Chiefs are and were legit. I mean, you can't just act like teams are only good if they beat teams with a winning record. And of course, teams that lose to said weaker teams get crushed for it. The Chiefs and the 2011 Detroit Lions couldn't control the fate of their opponents. Not everyone is going to have a 2008 Steelers meatgrinder schedule. Playing a weak-schedule is lose-lose. You get no credit for winning, all the blame for losing. It seems like beating. 500 or better teams is the only way you get any credit. Is it Kansas City's fault the Cowboys were the Cowboys, or the Giants were turning the ball over? Or the Redskins turning into a greasefire? The 1999 Rams SB title doesn't have an asterisk that says BEAT WEAK SCHEDULE. The Chiefs are who we thought they were [/DennyGreen]. They REALLY over-achieved early, and then faded back to where they belonged, as a good team not a great one as the season wore on. Make no mistake, their improvement was great, and they really made strides; but no one's banging on em unfairly. The 99 Rams thing is just outta left field, and has nothing to do with anything.

We're still talking about last year's schedules for the Broncos and Hawks?

A big crowd for a once a year novelty is one thing. I don't see the interest to sustain that at all, let alone the logistics of other teams traveling there eight times a year, and them coming to the States the same amount.

The most frustrating thing for me as a long-time Colts fan last season was that they beat both #1 seeds and spanked the 49ers in San Francisco but got creamed by the Rams, Bengals, and the Cardinals. At least they beat bad teams like they should have.

Here's my honest take on this upcoming NFL season in a nutshell:
Somebody else is going to have to figuratively hit the 49ers/Seahawks in the mouth besides each other. The NFC has quality depth, the Broncos retooled, the Patriots are the Patriots.
But it still feels like those two loom over the entire NFL until proven otherwise.

I really don't want a team in London. No offense to the city, but it just makes no goddamn sense logistics-wise.

If the NFL was in London, what would a cool name be for the team?

If the NFL was in London, what would a cool name be for the team? Monarchs? Bulldogs? Maybe they could go all soccer and call it "GFC London" (Gridiron Football Club London)

Patriots DT Armond Armstead has retired from the NFL. Does he have to wait five years for enshrinement or does he get some kind of waiver?

There were injuries on both sides, Broncos were missing 5 of their starting 11 on defense for that Championship game along with their All Pro left tackle. Not using that as an excuse are you ? Edit : 6 sorry forgot about Rahim Moore missing too.

You can only play who you play. This isn't college football where you can schedule yourself against Roast Beef Tech or the Sisters of the Poor for some cheap wins or you get massive cash imbalances like Texas vs Iowa State.
Frauds in the NFL will always get weeded out. And if they don't get weeded out... well, I can't think of a single scenario where a fraud could win the Superbowl without dozens of players being systematically injured/suspended/assassinated. Although I'm sure somebody will imagine one.
