What about when they single handedly turned the tide of the Monday Night Wars by invading WCW in a TANK*? *Not a tank. ** Never actually made it inside the building. It would be like if the Union invaded the Confederacy by sitting right on the Virginia border and made dick jokes for an hour. I knew Ken Burns forgot to mention the "Richmond takeover". "If you're not down with emancipation, we have two words in which to offer..."

I'm kind of shocked that Raw now makes more sense than during the Attitude Era. The other night I watched an episode that had ten "matches" and made no sense. The Stone Cold stuff was great, but everything else was way worse than it is now. Better workers now as opposed to then as well.

The dirty little secret to late 90s era WWF is that the roster basically sucked. It was the perfect roster for Russo to book in retrospect: A bunch of guys that did have charisma to do wacky angles, but largely sucked as wrestlers. Even Austin at that point was largely a brawler hampered by his neck injury. His wrestling was far better after he was off for most of 2000 and came back.
The irony? Watch some early Raw stuff from 1993-94, at least the non jobber squash stuff. The wrestling is far better and crisper than the late 90s era shows, which are fun but it's kinda entertaining crap. The wrestling itself is largely sloppy.

I still like it, but I think ECW might best be left to "best of" compilations This applies to every promotion ever.

The best of Raws that took place during the Attitude Era. Seriously I don't think there was a match that lasted longer than 5 minutes on Raw back then. I could just imagine how much material the writers/bookers would go through if Raw was another hour longer back in the Attitude era.

Even when Mongo or Prince Iaukea pop up. Some ECW undercard matches are horribly boring or sloppy. Without weapons some if the guys just aren't interesting.

Jake Roberts was actually kinda boring from a pure wrestling stand-point. I never noticed this back in the day.

It would still be memorable sure, but what might've happened if a bunch of WCW guys had come out and pasted them off camera?
I don't think the WWE would even acknowledge it's existence

I've found that 94-97 WWF to be much better. I've enjoyed ECW more than I did when I originally watched it and I was a huge fan during its original run.

While I don't have the network, as I am a damn unlucky canadian, I've been rewatching Punk's run in ECW. At the time he was a refreshing breath of fresh air. Now, he just looks like a doughy loser who does entirely too much in his matches just for the sake of doing it. He got SO MUCH better over the years.

1998 WCW. I followed the brand religiously that year, but everything after Spring Stampede just sucks, with the exception of whatever Jericho has going on at each show.

While I also dont have the Network as lucky a European (probably woul be too broke anyway to afford it), this thread has legit made me go back and watch some Attitude era Raws I havnt seen in years, I just love the ridiculousness of it all and especially looking back on it with fresh adult (and intoxicated) eyes, I just love "bad" wrestling I guess which is how I ended up on this forum in the first place. Was watching the Raw where Foley won the title in 99 and every segment was I was like "yep, OF COURSE that happened there!". That episode is like such a prototypical show for the time. That was probably my height of f***ing loving WWE (late 98 to mid 99) and everything they were doing so it's nice to be able to look back now on it and laugh and enjoy it all over again for different reasons.

JR's commentary is a lot worse than I remember it being. He repeats himself way to often.

In general the match quality isn't as good from 97-99 as I remember. Granted when it was good it was really freaking good but alot of matches were just overbooked crap. Wasn't a whole lot of "hey that was pretty good" from that period it was either "wow that was awesome" (infrequently) or "wtf is this shit" (common)
94-96 Match quality blew 97-99 away.

ECW was always my favorite promotion, but every time I go back and watch stuff, it ages worse and worse. At this point, there's probably less than 20 matches I'd ever watch again.

Pretty much the majority of 1998-2007.

I remember thinking Sable was smoking hot. I see the 90's stuff now and she's actually kind of hideous. On the flip side, Sunny and Tori seem even hotter.
