Do you feel like you're visiting Canada when you watch an NHL game live, even if it's two American teams playing against each other?

No. I'd love to visit Canada, however.

No. The face-off after an icing call. Bob Probert didn't even care about the puck drop; he just blasted the Kings' player and they beat the crap out of each other.
'Murica!
(The Kings and 'Hawks hate each other by the way. Some of your best fights.)

I had a feeling that was the case. Though it still seemed like it was strongly affiliated with Canadian culture due to history and also the recent Canadian gold medal Olympic wins.
The US has about 10x the population, and thus approx. 10x of available money to support the NHL. Technically, even if Americans liked hockey 90% less than Canadians per capita, the NHL would get about the same amount of money from both countries.
Despite this, it only has about 3x the number of teams (instead of the demographic 10x), and I think about 55% of all players are Canadian.

CFL games feel more like Canada. By that I mean, resembles how things are done in America, but there are some things that feel just a bit off.

Yeah with the 110 yards, you can get an extra point without scoring a touchdown, 3 downs, no fair catches, etc. It also feels more fast paced with less commercials and commercial TV times.
