Benoit Pouliot to the Oilers. 5 year, $20 millon deal Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahaha I was hoping to never see someone named Pouliot on the Oilers again. But really 4 years and 20 million? He's good in the playoffs but Edmonton can't make it there. And Dallas and Calgary and Nashville and Vancouver and Minnesota and St. Louis all improved like all the western teams that didn't make it to the playoffs gotten better and the ones that did are getting better. Seriously f*** this circus. Also I knew Hemsky was going to sign with whomever Spezza got traded too since they have insane chemistry together

Swedish outlet is reporting that Anton Stralman has signed with Tampa. It's official. 5yr/$20m deal for Stralman.

Sources say that Lehterä himself bought out his KHL contract to join Blues.

Not a great day for my team Eh, the Devils did all right. Got Cammy who should be a big help on offense. Havlat is a low risk/high reward signing that if he sucks is gone next year. And they (so far) have only lost Fayne to another team, not counting the Volchenkov compliance buyout. I don't think they ever had any serious chance of getting a Vanek, Moulson, or Statsny. Vrbata is still out there and we can have more Czechs than anyone else. Yeah, it'll suck if/when Brodeur signs with another team but he was pretty bad last year. Sentimental value is all he really had going for him. Next year's free agents are a lot more attractive. This year's pretty slim pickings. Between next year's draft class and free agency and the Devils should have a lot of cap room to make a splash. Plus I think this is Salvador's last year so he'll be gone (thank God) unless Lou is completely braindead.

The pay is right and the years don't matter a whole lot unless he has a NTC. The only guys on the books currently when his contract expires are Henrique and Zajac. He's a very good offensive player for a team desperate for it and also has speed, again something this team sorely needs. Maybe he'll be diminished the 4th and 5th year, but that's what it takes to sign a quality UFA, especially one that's a legit top 6 forward. Another thing to consider is that the cap will increase over the years, so $5 million isn't bad at all. The two year contract for Stephen Gionta is a lot more baffling. That's someone the Devils didn't need at all.

Nick Holde, Bruno Gervais and Jarome Iginla to Colorado. Vets, help me out; are these good moves for the Avs? It's a drag they've lost a couple really good guys, but does Holde, Gervais and Iginla soften the blow?

Paul Statsny to St. Louis. That... that I don't like. They way overpaid for him. Colorado was never going over 6 mil a year. And he isn't worth more. But he was the best center available and some one would over pay for him. Now the Avs can move Mac to center where he belongs and wing him with Landy and Iginla. Which makes that a scrappy, gritty line with Mac play making. That is going to be one of the most dangerous lines in hockey. Nick Holde, Bruno Gervais and Jarome Iginla to Colorado. Vets, help me out; are these good moves for the Avs? It's a drag they've lost a couple really good guys, but does Holde, Gervais and Iginla soften the blow? It is Holden, not Holde, so he was already there. But yeah, Iginla and Stuart are exactly what they said they needed, and was what they needed. A power forward with some grit, and a d-man who can play stay at home while Barrie rushes. They really do need to lockdown Barrie and O'Reilly now though.

Iginla is still a fantastic player, even at his age. Good pick up for the Avs. He might end up being like Jagr and still play into his 40's at a fairly high level.

It's a drag they've lost a couple really good guys, but does Holde, Gervais and Iginla soften the blow? Colorados center depth is already insane with Duchene, MacKinnon, and O Reilly so Statsny shouldn't feel like a big loss. Plus Iginla is a gritty veteran who was one of the best captains the past decade and is the player that Landeskog should strive to be. He has no better possible mentor to learn from. Well maybe Jagr but he's a mythical mystical immortal hockey god
