Briere is getting pretty old and past his prime and his productivity has been decreasing each season. However he has a reputation of one of the best clutch playoff performers in league history. He didn't do much with the Canadians during the playoffs this year though. I honestly don't like this trade unless Roy has beef with PA

It is a good trade for them. They have a lot of young guys who can go. They need a calming influence and a clutch guy. I would rather they have shopped PA for a D-man or power forward though. It also makes me think they don't expect to get Stastny back.
