Iginla is still a fantastic player, even at his age. Good pick up for the Avs. He might end up being like Jagr and still play into his 40's at a fairly high level. Yeah, his numbers were fantastic last year, and he has only once gone under 20 goals in a year where he wasn't injured. Plus he is a leader and former captain(same with Stuart). He may only have a few years left, but honestly, for that team, I am happy to have him over Stastny. Side note, I wonder if the Bruins' fans' racism antics had a hand in him leaving Boston.

Side note, the Avs picking up Bruno Gervais is fun, he is Maxime Talbot's best friend from childhood. That said, he is dead last on the D-man depth charrt for them, but someone has to be.

It seems like Boston is the only city they focus on racist fans when every city probably has the same amount of racist fans. Like if Boston was that racist of a city then the Celtics, Patriots, and Red Sox wouldn't be good because everyone be leaving and afraid to come. Plus the Bruins and the 90's and early 00's had a few black players on their team.

I am sure that many teams locals are just as racist, but the bruins' fans opened their mouths this year while a black player was on their team.

See: the crap Bill Russell had to deal with when he was on the Celtics along with the Red Sox being the last MLB team to integrate because Yawkey was a racist douchebag. Though I remember Joel Ward getting a lot of racist crap thrown his way by other teams' fans so it's definitely not only Boston. Twitter is a sad haven for that sort of garbage. But, as unfair as it is to single them out, that's why Boston gets the scrutiny that other sports towns don't.

So here's how the Rangers did today: RE-SIGNED: Dominic Moore
ACQUIRED: Matt Hunwick (Colorado), Chris Mueller (Dallas), Dan Boyle (NY Islanders), Tanner Glass (Pittsburgh), Mike Kotska (Tampa)
LOST: Brian Boyle (Tampa), Benoit Pouliot (Edmonton), Anton Stralman (Tampa)
And though he was bought out, Richards signed with Chicago.

The Leafs didn't do anything colossally stupid, so I'm pleasantly surprised.
I think Stephane Robidas is a big risk coming off of two broken legs in eight months and he's 37, but it's not an egregious term ($3 mill. per/three years) and he could be moved at a future deadline if need be.
I like Leo Komarov a lot, but he's getting third, borderline second-line, money ($2.9 mill. per/four years), so he better play more than he did two seasons about.
Don't love the Matt Frattin trade. I think he's a serviceable player, but I thought Jerry D'Amigo deserved a shot with the big club.
If I had to pick a winner today, I'd go with Dallas. Adding Spezza and Hemsky to an already very good team is quite the proposition.
As for a loser, what the hell were the Caps thinking?

But, as unfair as it is to single them out, that's why Boston gets the scrutiny that other sports towns don't. I'm not going to sit here and give you platitudes about how Boston does not have an ugly history when it comes to race relations, or that there aren't any racists in the city, because both would be lies. Boston has a very sordid history surrounding race, and it is one of the most sensitive subjects in the commonwealth. That being said, the P.K. Subban "racist tweet" story that circulated earlier this spring was largely disproved as more myth than truth. www.boston.com/sports/blogs/obnoxiousbostonfan/2014/05/exclusive_the_real_numbers_beh.htmlAny number of racist messages about a hockey player is disgusting and indefensible, but the actual number was substantially lower than what was reported and the n-word NEVER trended in Boston, as was also reported. And if we're going to base an entire fan base on the sub-human lowest common denominator trolls that call Twitter home, then every fan base has its fair share of vile, racist scum.

Bryan Murray diagnosed with cancer. This is going to be a rough two seasons for Ottawa. I think they are going to be one of the lottery teams competing for the McDavid sweepstakes.

Unless the salary cup almost doubles in a few more years then the new Kane and Toews contracts screams end of a dynasty. Good luck signing your RFA's and free agents with two players who both have record setting cap hits.

Really glad to see Schneider locked up for the long-term. It still sucks that Marty won't retire as a Devil unless he does one of those 1 day contract things (if those are even a thing in the NHL), but we've got our successor.

Those 1 day contracts just piss me the f*** off. I mean the record books will show Rice retired as a Seahawk not as a 49er. I get the announce your retirement with the team you're famous with but what's the f***ing point of that formality
