The problem is that it's not WWE that owns these old games, it's the original publishers. All WWE does is license out their name and trademarks.
EDIT: Then you have to go with the cost of paying royalties on top of that to all the wrestlers or families of wrestlers that appear, if they indeed give permission to appear in the game. If a wrestler or his family does not want him to appear, they can't.
Games with Owen Hart or Chris Benoit would immediately be struck out.

Yeah that's definitely not going to happen.
Sounds pretty easy writing it down but there's a lot of little things that make this difficult. Not even bringing up the licensing issues like the post above pointed out.

Gee, eff me for daydreaming. I wasn't saying that at all, I would love to see it happen too. I just wanted to point out how difficult it would be to implement due to the sheer nature of licensing, likenesses and trademarks. It's too much of a litigious minefield to navigate.
