To be honest I love how she injures someone (to be honest this is wrestling, it happens all the time and the only wrestler I can think of off the top of my head that hasn't injured someone is Kurt Angle) and the only reason why I think that people were mad at her is because it was Daffney that she accidentally injured, now don't get me wrong I like Daffney and I defiantly didn't want to see her injured but if Betsy had inadvertently injured Lacey Von Erich for example hardly anyone would've given her as much shit for it. To be honest I also think that they booked her wrong, what I personally would've done is given her a kind of rough and no-nonsense brawler kind of gimmick, think Bray Wyatt when he was Husky Harris on NXT, she could even borrow his seated senton for a finisher seeing as she'd be the only Knockout who could use it and have it believably be a finisher and, this is a personal thing, I think without all the dolled up make-up and all that Vegas Show Girl attire, she's seriously a contender for one of the prettiest Knockouts.  She's big and to be honest I like that, it makes her stand out based on body alone although I saw on the last thread about her in 2010 people mentioned how she looked unhealthy, well on the other end of the spectrum about bodies, she doesn't look half as bad as Angelina Love does currently. (Now hopefully this thread doesn't break out into a battlezone like the last thread about her did; all of this is just my opinion and if you don't like her than that's cool) |

I seem to recall that she was VERY inexperienced at the time, and probably wasn't ready to wrestle on TV. She's one of the Dudley's protege's right?

I seem to recall that she was VERY inexperienced at the time, and probably wasn't ready to wrestle on TV. She's one of the Dudley's protege's right? Yeah she was. So was Jesse Neal and Rob Terry. I think with some improvements and a different gimmick Betsy could do quite well. |

Honestly if you injure someone in your try-out, then you have no right to be given a job at that point, unless it was abundantly clear that it wasn't your fault. Even then I would still be wary about doing so. And considering how inexperienced she supposedly was at the time, I find it more likely she was responsible.
I do agree that she shouldn't be forever vilified for it though. Accidents do happen. And even with what happened, I wouldn't have denied giving her another chance down the line once she had improved a little more, that is if she was still interested.
As for the gimmick... I bet that was a Russo special. So honestly she's better off for not having joined the group because I guarantee he wouldn't have been able to resist turning her into the new Bertha Faye or Beef.

Who gives a shit if it was Daffney that she injured? I get that mistakes happen but if you seriously injure someone in your debut match, you are not TV ready. She had no business even being signed. She was terrible.
TBF to her, TNA does deserve a good chunk of the blame for rushing to throw someone on TV who clearly wasn't ready just because she had a unique look and they wanted to make fat jokes.

She was terrible. I don't know enough about her experience and level of talent. I didn't care for her TNA persona. If she had a different character, perhaps one based on the 'rock chick' look, I think I would have liked her more. Of course that all depends on her being able to wrestle and work safely with the other wrestlers. I can't remember if TNA was working with OVW back then, but she may have been a good candidate to send down there instead of outright releasing her. Many female wrestlers have smaller statures and builds, but that doesn't mean a heavy woman cannot learn how to work safely with them. Just like Yokozuna was always said to be very safe to work with, even for small guys. I hate to compare his size to hers, but I am making a bigger point.

I'm seriously surprised they didn't make her into a female Yokozuna just for their own immature amusement, to be honest I'd go as far to say that Yoko is one of the best big man wrestlers in history and it would be great to see Betsy go down there and become a bit like Albert/A-Train/Giant Bernard. She starts off almost dangerous, goes a way for a year or two and improves in OVW then comes back as a good and safe big-girl worker, everybody wins and no-one gets injured. |

Thing is like Rob Terry and Jesse Neal when they first showed up, she had no business being on TV at that point. I mean she gave Dafney a concussion, stinger, and bruised sternum on a botched sunset flip?
C'mon man I can't feel to sorry for someone who does that to another wrestler in a tryout. For the person that asked she's retired already due to injuries. Basically you think about her like you would think about some big roided up guy who can't wrestle for shit. Yeah the look was distinctive but don't we rag on those muscleheads cause they can't wrestle. She's just a big girl who couldn't wrestle.

She was not ready yet, and was put into a position where she or someone else was going to get hurt, and they did. Accidents do happen, but she was too green for TV.

Wow, she has lost a lot of weight. She looks to be in great shape now. She wasn't in bad shape when the pic in my original post was taken although if she has lost weight then good for her and It's a slight shame she lost weight after she left wrestling. |
