I find it amusing that Miami fans were using the no AC excuse as to why they lost and that Lebron cramped up. Interesting how he was the only one who did cramp up.

To say Lebron isn't an elite player may be the most ludicrous statement in the history of the NBA. I mean historically elite. Historically elite means top 10 all time for me and Lebron is not that. Yeah he is. I'm not even a fan, but yea he is.

It ain't hot in Miami? News to me. Besides, every dude on that floor was in the same conditions. That's what I was reading on Facebook. Miami fans blamed the officials, stated that it was rigged because the AC stopped working, and that the Spurs got lucky because Lebron cramped up. As you and others stated, both teams played in the same conditions, and considering Lebron is younger than Duncan, Parker, and Manu it's a silly excuse.

I just want o throw it out there - Allen Iverson took a bunch of scrubs to the Finals as well, and he won a game. In fact, the only playoff game the Lakers lost that year.

If no one on the Miami staff was making sure he was extra hydrated then its a poor job on them. If they were then that's shit luck for the Heat and great luck for the Spurs that no one on their team cramped up

Probably the best and cheapest advertising Gatorade has done in a decade. Isn't James Powerade's #1 dude? Or was it Vitamin Water... or whatever the hell else. I can't remember and I'm too lazy to google

No love for Bill Russell on these top 10 or even 5 lists? That's blasphemy. 11 NBA championships, 2 as player-head coach 22 RPG Hell the Finals MVP is NAMED the Bill Russell Finals MVP!

He was surrounded by ridiculously talented rebounders and defenders that were there to compliment his constant chucking. Mutombo was the most important player on that team.

The NBA is so rigged anymore that it's hard to compare players from the modern era against players from back in the day. On the flip side it's hard to compare the old timers against the modern guys because guys like Wilt were physical anomalies at the time and would be matched up against more evenly these days.

Just my .02.

Oh Miami fans. If they had won, you wouldn't hear them complain. They also don't complain about the insane amount of calls that go their way.

It is curious that Lebron was the only player who cramped up. I'd be curious if he got dehydrated in the heat and, for some reason, took in fewer fluids than the other players who played as much as he did. Probably the best and cheapest advertising Gatorade has done in a decade. Isn't James Powerade's #1 dude? Or was it Vitamin Water... or whatever the hell else. I can't remember and I'm too lazy to google Yep, he's Powerade. Sucks for them

Russell is the greatest winner in NBA history and broke a lot of racial barriers in racist-as-f*** Boston, but he was also on a ton of absolutely stacked Celtics teams. Those said stacked Celtics teams are also why Wilt only won two championships in his NBA career, and I'd say Wilt was a better overall player. Russell is an all-time great player, played incredible defense, and he'd be on my top 10, but I do think he's a little overrated as an individual player because of his championship hardware. That said, if I had to assemble a playoff team's roster he'd be one of the first people I'd call. Right after Jordan.

When LeBron James – a Powerade endorser – left Game 1 of the NBA Finals due to cramps, Gatorade trolled hard.
Today, the sports drink deleted its tweets and apologized.
The company’s statement, via the Associated Press:
“Our apologies for our response to fans’ tweets during (Thursday) night’s Heat vs. Spurs game,” Gatorade said in a release. “We got caught up in the heat of the battle. As a longtime partner of the Miami Heat, we support the entire team.”
Darren Rovell of ESPN:
the truth is James actually drinks Gatorade on the bench. He takes the label off and uses blank white towels that don’t have the Gatorade logo on them so as not to overtly endorse his competitor.

Oh yeah, Magic/Bird/MJ never got any calls. Oh they did, no one is going to deny that. But as over the 2000s, it has sadly only gotten worse. Not a criticism of Lebron on that one, just on the NBA in general, which may be as predetermined as WWE is in who wins their series, except WWE at least has the courtesy to tell you they predetermine their stuff.

I don't think the calling has actually gotten worse. It's about what it's always been. I just think the bad/superstar calls are a lot more obvious than they used to be to the fans. The internet, HD video feeds, and replay have all contributed a lot to that. I don't think the NBA has done a good job of improving things but that's the situation as I see it.
Out of the big four, I think the NBA is by far the worst officiated and possibly the most difficult as well. But I don't think this is a sudden development in the last 15 years or so.
